Hello and a little advice needed.

I mostly listen to Fear Factory ( Electronic metal) and DnB in FLAC and 320kbps mp3's. I use my SB live! as an output source. I am planning the purchase as a future investment.

so which headphones should i buy? the 555, 595 or 570's

Try the 555 for good value. 570 are not very efficient and not recommended straight out of a sound card (+ it is an old, discontinued series). 595 is 555's bigger brother, more expensive and similar sound with better performance (although arguably less value).

roger that.

what do you mean by ''similar sound with better performance'' ?

PS! add the 590's to the list - they can be had for the same price as 555's here.

I got some HD-555 from ZipZoomFly last Oct for $99. Sound great out of my nf4 onboard. I don't know if that deal is still alive.

I'm happy with my 570s connected to the headphone amp on a terratec dmx 6fire. I use the 555s at work, and to my ears, they sound pretty good.

Similar sound signature, but it is just more refined.

You could search at head-fi forums if you want to find out more about these (and other) headphones.

Head-fi is a good resource, but I would be a bit wary of it. The users have a lot of experience with headphones, but they definitely tend to be subjectivists rather than objectivists. As such, they make a lot of claims that i really doubt can be backed up by ABX testing. So listen to what they say, but don't necessarily make your decision based just on their word.
