It is time for me to change soundcard. The main reason is that my SB does not output SPDIF passthrough at 44.1KHz (as any SB if my infos are correct). I need this feature because I want to be able to play my DTS CDs out of my computer. Since I have only SPDIF btw my computer and my amp, it has to be a passthrough.
Has anyone had success with a sound card playing a DTS CD? Which one?
Additionnally, which software did you use?

Don't know if they're still available but my Chaintech AV710 was excellent for this. Just used with ASIO4ALL and it was fine. Oh yeah it's only about $25 too

A lot of people over on avsforum.com have posted about getting DTS CDs to work as well.

I've had a look on that card for awhile now, but I'd need a TOSLink to RCA converter because (AFAIK) you can't pull a toslink over 20 meters. SPDIF through Coax seems to do just fine on that count. Not counting it's really cheap.
Plus I can't seem to be able to find this card anywhere near France.

The Creative SB Digital Music SX will output SPDIF at 44.1kHz. I've played DTS CDs successfully with it, using both the bundled software player and foobar2000 with kernel streaming. Unfortunately it only has optical SPDIF out, although it's USB powered, so you could run a longer USB cable (but I think max recommended length for USB is 5m.)

Thanks for the tip, although I think this card is only available in Japan for now.

The M-Audio 2496 Coax S/PDIF works to normal specifications. The manufacturer says it passes through "bit perfect" "up to" 24/96 and Dolby Digital 5.1. I have no idea what DTS is, but if it is supposed to be communicated via S/PDIF, it is highly probable that it works with this card.
