Mud's Stupid Question Of The Day - I've been re-ripping a lot of my stuff into FLAC files, but I've already got a few albums in Monkey's Audio. While I could re-rip these albums into FLAC, is there any reason to do so?
In other words, is there any advantage or disadvantage to converting from one lossless to another?

There is no disadvantage.

NO there is any disadvantage... maybe you will have a little bigger files with flac... but the advantage is that flac is more supported in portables and players in general than Monkey Audio.

You're asking the wrong question. You should rather ask yourself if it makes sense to "re-rip" albums you've already ripped and encoded into a lossless format. Re-encoding is the better choice.

But ok, If you want all your lossless music in the same format and you're now using FLAC instead of APE, then I see no reason to keep the music in two different formats. All you'll loose is a bit of time and disc space (since FLAC's compression ratios are not as good as APE's). But you will gain less CPU overhead while playback and a bit more compatibility, since more software and hardware supports FLAC.
flac will be larger probably
flac uses less CPU, faster seeking

The only reason I'm even considering it is the lack of support for .ape in fb2k RC 0.9 (I figured someone knows something that I don't...). I have no solid plans on re-ripping until/unless I need to, but I was curious about the question. Thanks, guys!
Just convert it to FLAC, you don't have to re-rip.
