Hello!

My Sony Ericsson T300 battery got weaker and weaker until it only lasted for about three days. Therefore, I bought a new (original Sony Ericsson) battery for 25 €. Now suddenly, my mobile phone won't charge the batteries at all. I tried with both accumulators (old one and the brand new one) but didn't had any luck. Now I am wondering if the mobile phone is responsible for charging and monitoring the battery status or if it's the power supply. I am asking because it seems that the power supply is electronic and does not use a coil like my old Nokia charger.

Also, when measuring the voltage, it starts at 1V and goes down to 0 within a few seconds. My Nokia charger on the other hand had a steady output of 3.7V.

Regards,
Sebastian

BTW, I am asking because if the charger is reponsible for regulating the voltage and for stopping the current when the battery is full, I could get a new power supply from eBay for 5 €.

It is very possible that it uses 'smart batteries' but my guess is something is broken. Also shouldn't this topic be in 'off topic'?

Definitely the charger. I purchased a new one (original Sony Ericsson, too) and it works like a charm. I did a test at my local T-Mobile store that fortunately had a charger for me to test with. Anyways, the phone is still responsible for regulating the power and switching to trickle charge (if something like this even exists for Lithium-Polymer) since there universal chargers that have multiple jacks for Nokia, Sony Ericsson, etc. and which all use a 5V output (I doubt that 0.1V difference when comparing to the 4.9V output of the original Sony Ericsson charger makes a difference).

Yo. Hold on bro. The Universal charger you said produce 5V output but in the OP you said Nokia chargers output 3.7V... won't this cause a meltdown?

I guess it depends on the model. The 3.7V I mentioned were for my old Nokia 5110 (which still works with all of the original accessories - how come modern devices aren't so durable? mad.gif).
