Full Version: possible wierdness with MM keyboards

yeah, i know, there's several topics about this already but this has a little twist to it...

i happen to be using a logitech MM keyboard without the goofy 'iTouch' s/w. it's very possible to use all of it's MM keys without having 'iTouch' running in the background. i had been using the FB 0.9 RC 10 and the MM keys worked fine. now i've upgraded to the 0.9 release and they stopped working... sort of.

firstly, my creative sound card drivers (kxProject) recognize the MM keys fine, but FB doesn't. with foobar, the MM keys are not recognized and generate a warning like "/playpause not found" or something. or atleast it did; i just tried it again and nothing at all happens. the kicker is that if i open 'file > preferences > keyboard shortcuts', the MM keys now work! and they work even without any keyboard shortcuts defined. as soon as i close preferences, they stop working. i could've easily remapped the keys, but i didn't want to have to do that. funny though, as i had the MM keys enabled in the kx drivers before and all worked well without any remapping.

if i DISABLE 'multimedia keyboard enabled' in my kxProject drivers, the MM keys work as long as FB has focus. though it's backwards from before (they don't work with FB's preferences open, but do work when preferences are closed). if i close FB, enable the MM keys in the kx drivers and run FB again and focus it or minimize it, any MM key will work... ONCE, then no more.

anyone have any input on this?

How could you use your MM keys without any special driver, espacially iTouch ? It sounds interesting. Could you tell me ?

You don't need drivers for MM keyboards unless you want to customize what each key does over its default Windows interpretation.

atomizer, just make the global keyboard shortcuts in foobar with your MM keys. I've always had to make those keyboard shortcuts since I don't use keyboard drivers as well. dry.gif
