TopdownJimmy - you ever considered using a 3dcc colour tweaker? You can make windows classic style look so much prettier and softer on the eye with no extra resource hogging.

Don't look too hard, a black playlist background with a sidebar which has art, buttons, a bar and a dropdown.

Then the foobar is set to something like 180 alpha and put craftily ontop of a background which divides playlist from sidebar.

I stuck this together a few days ago, looking for usability first and formost so there's no silly stats screens and I've gone for itunes style fcs as it makes it easier to make custom playlists and sort by anything other than artist or album than the ones whihc summurize everything in the first 3 tracks of each album, anyway,

Over the weeks I've been using some scripts from peoples' .fcs files and threads, doing some customizing, formatting, and so on, and I've finally put together a style I'm quite satisfied with.

Here ya go:

I'm especially satisfied with the total playtime in the status bar. Boy, that little thing took me almost a day to put together, when I had no experience with the syntax at all.

Oh, I must really thank everyone for the work they put in to this project! .fcs makers, component coders, and the foobar crew . Together you've formed an awesome musicplayer.

Some of the things you want changed depend on the VS you are using (seek bar look, scroll bars and column titles).

I started messing around with foobar2000 UI stuff a couple days back.

What is the window with the info on things like "Missing Tags", "Missing Replaygain", and the breakdown of tracks by Genre, Artist, Year, etc? I am just porting my 0.83 over to 0.9.2 and haven't seen something like that before.

If you mean the playlist font it's Calibri 8pt Bold, with ClearType enabled.

Agree, really amazing style ... Already tried it, just save the original foobar2000.cfg (in root directory of foobar), and replace it with unart's renamed the same. A bit uneasy however. Sure .fcs would be easier, but wouldn't be enough to give the whole style.

Well, I think I shall spare all you good folks from a horrific glimpse of my paltry rectangle betsrewn with nothing but lines of disparate dimensions detailing a couple of thousand songs.

Haha! But this is all just fine with me, for I am brand new to foobar. I'm not calling it phooeybar, either, 'cuz actually formatting is what I do best, whether in Word or in K-Meleon or even the XP desktop. I'm just at Square Zero right now, that's all—and it's very helpful to see just how nice you've set things up at the far end of the spectrum from me. I'll be there after a time.

Perhaps off-topic, or maybe not, I think any of you who are so inclined might really enjoy doing very much the same thing with my favourite of all browsers—if you are using Windows—which is K-Meleon; for those of you unfamiliar with it, K-M is to Firefox as Firefox is to IE. Sort of. You start just the same way you begin with foobar. It LOOKS like a Spartan plain-Jane with nothing much going for it. No extensions. It's not hard, but it takes the same aptitude I see here. After a month or two, you're "on" to it—with the help of the super-nice guys at the General Forum—and then, as I see you have done with foobar, you have a really, really nice-looking, super efficient little browser. (Gecko-based, free-standing, a cousin to other Moz creations. Its only drawback is it works on nothing but Windows; too bad.)

Actually I'm on Firefox as I type this, so I'm not trying to advertise a browser on a foobar forum. I simply pass the info along because the delight and accomplishment of both seem very parallel indeed, and perhaps one or two of you would enjoy that parallel pathway.

For the time being, I'm glad I even have sound coming from foobar. I'm sort of enjoying being so brand new, savouring the moment! I have to learn a lot of tech about sound on foobar first; but sooner or later I'll have the looks as well. At the moment, the only time foobar looks decent on my system is courtesy of FF's extension called FoxyTunes, which displays a very tidy, very tiny, row of buttons along my statusbar.

Again, thanks for sharing your skills. Some very good-looking stuff, indeed. :-)

Place a "$tab()" (without the quotes) at the beginning and end of each line. That will center it.

on your playlist, where it says the bitrate and compression underneath the artist/album title, is this just based off the first song on the album or what? because i have a few albums that have been "pieced" together so a few tracks have different bit-rates and i'm wondering how it would work

Some comments to my style:
You need the .cfg to implement all settings, the .fcs stores the settings of the playlist and playlists switcher only (I hope I'm right).
You have to give the window the right size (cf. description in thumbnail). Alternatively, you have to shift the panel borders appropriately.
I have implemented some image files (use panels with dummy buttons and custom images), which have to be created by yourself .

is helpful to make out my panel structure.
To obtain a correct representation of the album view in the playlist I use the %comment% tag as an indicator for songs, which are part of an album (comment="Alben", comment=something else).
Additionally, I use a %rating% tag (1,2,3,4,5).
