I've gone with a fairly simple layout with my Foobar. You can add trackinfo or playlists by adding it as a tab to share space with the album art. Personally, I just use album lists.

I'm used to MusicMatch, and like the idea of either a docked or pop-up albumlist view. Unfortunately, I couldn't style the pop-up the way I wanted, and the docked feature just doesn't work the way I want. Specifically, the area you press to expand/collapse the dock needs to be larger, and I'd like to be able to have the player expand in size to accomodate the dock as opposed to being confined to the window size.

At any rate, to achieve the same effect, I simply used the Maximize/Restore buttons. When the player is maximized, the Albumlist becomes visible as in the image below.

But if you hit restore, the player becomes smaller and only the albumart and playlist is visible.

I manually sized the player for the slim version, and since those settings are saved, the rest was easy. Just set the albumart to "locked" and the albumlist won't try to get in the way when you reduce the window size. If that isn't slim enough for you, you can always reduce the size more.

I've used ColumnsUI mod, Albumlist mod and Albumart mod in this creation.

Nice multiple colors there. Maybe at least you will like my setup.

just a quick test with the idea of icons colored based on tags (like what we did back in columns' playlist). please note that this setup is just for tests, it doesn't handle compilation albums for example.

technical background: square character drawn using $hsl for setting color and then overlayed with semi-transparent image to make it look like icon. there are multiple types of that image (for alternate background colors, selected items etc.). it works quite well, i'm going to expand on this idea ...

Nothing to special. Using a foo_uie_columns config, with album art, track info and album list panels. Also using Kernal Streaming.

I am really happy with it apart from the track info panel. Keeping the same things in there but like making like the main headers such as artist, album etc. as a different colour and bold, with the things after it like Snoop Dogg etc. staying how it is now, like:

Title: Sad But True

In my opinion, you should change the buttons.
And change the background colour of the playlist, according the rest of the skin.

This is the code I use for my track display with the colored brackets and remix name. The bottom chunk is the important bit.

you could do just simple $replace ... it works with standard color codes and with $font or $textcolor ...

Trackinfo panel was ripped of from maji, but I'm gonna personalize it more later on.
By the way, anyone know if it's possible to use two album-art panels at the same time? Am using the 0.9.4 beta 3 and I am trying to have one small panel and one bigger at the tab-bar. Is that possible? I don't get it to work.

I have a question since we're on that topic. Ok so here's my code for anything in brackets..



Suppose I have a song title where there are paranthesis in the beginning and then the rest of the title follows out of them.. My question is how do I get the rest of the title to revert back to the original color and not the color code for the brackets? Sorry if I'm confusing anyone, work has me overly tired.

You'll need to add color codes after the ending parenthesis... something like:



replace the 0-0-0 with the color for your normal text.

I've managed to fix the code the row hight was one issue, some code clean up and eveything works fine now.
One think I notice is when the path goes ex:
Isis\ 2006 - In The Abscence Of Truth, it wont display the cover, but if I remove the year 2006 eveything works fine

...and how should a Foobar2k noob like me use it, this is my first attempt at changing Foobar appearance, and it doesn't seem to help to be a computer consultant when it comes to Foobar? All instructions assume that you know more than a beginner do.

I have installed and am using Foobar 0.9.3.1 and foo_ui_columns. I also have foo_uie_trackinfo_mod and foo_uie_albumart installed, as well as several other components - but I don't know how I should do to make them be used... So I have a white field to the left instead of the album art panel and the other stuff there. The middle part with album info and the track info at the right looks fine. Apart from "Import"-ing the fcs file, what should be done?

I do have a folder.jpg with album art in each folder.

why is it that when i add '$imageabs(0,0,images\overlay.png,)' to my trackinfo, i get an [UNKNOWN FUNCTION] error???

As for the search function I just hit F3.

i figured out the info thing, and for the search, F3 wont work for me

File> Preferences> General> Keyboard Shortcuts

Scan through your list, do you have anything bound to "search" in the "action" column? Maybe Ctrl+F?

You can bind any key you like to the search function, you can also bind any custom button to:
Main menu items> Edit/Search

If neither of those satisfy your needs you can look into foo_uie_quicksearch but you'll have to add that as a toolbar on a splitter and I personally dont like the way it behaves with other components such as playlist dropdown.

Edit: You could also bind the Main menu items> Edit/Search to a context menu item but I dont think this would be convenient at all.
Edit: You can also select Edit> Search from the foobar main menu but again this isnt very convenient.
