Dumb Question:

After figuring out some stuff about my foobar and finding a setup I really like, Im still wondering exactly how to get the overlay in the group display area to make it look all glassy like this.

Anyway, heres what I have so far:

For a while now I try to customize my foobar but I just don't understand it. Is there some kind of step-to-step explanation somewhere? I've read like 50 pages from this thread but I still can't figure it out. If someone can help me I would really appreciate it.

It's nothing amazing, just a .png with a gradient from white to transparent placed at the front, kinda rushed too.

The rest of the config is pieced together from tool++ and eejadx, with some major and some minor changes.

Thanks for the excellent config, but I'm having issues getting the volume slider to work. I have the latest version of foo_cwb_hooks that I could find, but I'm not sure what exactly I'm supposed to do with it. The only thing in the settings screen is two boxes labeled "User defined next strings".. what should be in those?

Also, how can I get rid of the divider bars inbetween panels (for example, the seamless integration between the top track info panel, the headphones panel, and the lyrics panel)?

Lastly, it seems like if an album has less than four tracks or so, the album art will crash into the album below it. Looks like this -




Any way to fix this?

The volume sidebar works when you press + or - buttons from the keyboard for change volume.

The colours of the 3D Objects in my Windows Visual Style is 238-238-238 for this skin, set all the background panels to this colour, or edit the headphone image and change his colour and set the backgrounds to your Visual Style.

Covers problems. You're right, you need 4 songs to show the entire cover:
2003 - Arctopocalypse... : You don't have the cover image and you don't have 4 songs.
2004 - Nano-Nucleonic... : You don't have 4 songs
1991 - Flight of the... : The original image is not squared (example: 150x150, 500x500)

Follow the readme's instructions and use the Layout.png to create the custom UI in ColumnsUI, it just takes a time. You will have to right click to add items to the UI, and follow the tree setup. When you encounter something you cannot find, that's a component you must download (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components_0.9) then restart foobar after installing and continue. Also be sure to disable captions so it looks right.

I used the dockable-panel-plugin.

when i'm switching playlists it's display on the screen but after double cliking foo is playing 1st song from default playlist... ;/

i would also like to know how i do some things. i would like to place Rating buttons somewhere, but i havnt gotten it to work. Right now i r.click > Custom Info > Rate x. But buttons whould be nice.

Well i've made some updates. And i think it looks pretty good. I also mad the rating from 1-10 instead of 1-5 (which i few choices )

And now... is there anyway of changing color on "Playback Order"? and maybe remove the little separator between the panels? or is that windows playing a trick on me?

Yes that based on your visual style, you could change it to a track_info_mod and use %cwb_playback_order% (from cwb_hooks) to get the order. However you would need to add some buttons to switch the playback order (or some complex $button code).

Because I have an old computer and when I use an other VS, it doesn't works too much...

Here's mine. It's kind of a present for a friend, who used foobar a while ago but just didn't like how it looks and didn't know how to "skin"it. So basically I took her old setup (panels and stuff) and made this for her. All buttons, icons and graphic stuff is self made.

There are still 2 other tabs: playlist switcher and album list. The little icons between track info and album art are for switching tabs.

The reflection of the cover is a bit overkill, cause I had to do a batch rotate to all covers in my library. I'm gonna remove that, but it lookd good for the screen shot

Now she has to swear she's never gonna stop using areao4 ( I had to change my VS myself to be able to use this)

ps. the 2 tracks at the top of the panel are the "singles". I would like all singles from an artist to be at the end of the group, but I've been trying all kinds of sorting strings, and "gruop by" string and finally gave up. If anyone can think of something to fix it please let me know

Man i love what you ve done. I am specially interested by the buttons on the middle of the left panel. How are they rendered? If it is a button panel how do you get the background? If it is a track info mod panel, how o you deal with the activated state of the buttons?

It's a track info panel. it's the mouse over image, only you don't see the cursor.
The only trick I used in the whole thing and I get cought.. he. I just wanted to show they are in fact buttons

I'd love it to show the active tab status, but there's nothing to it. however if you're planning to use something like that for other than switching tabs, it may be possible. like for example, the default/shuffle/repeat buttons show the state of the buttons using %cwb_playback_order%. what exactly do you want to do?

One question still, what command do you use to change tabs with buttons? I am curious cause in my tabbed panel all my tabs have the same name so i cant use "lyric panel" or "single column playlist"

the command is the name of the tab... Rename your tabs and then hide the tabs headers.

quick question, this is driving me crazy: how can i tile an image horizontally. i found an example for vertical tiling, but i want to achieve what tool did in his dark green config, with the arrows in currently playing..

Now the interesting thing that i wanted is that that "window" is resizable. For the moment only vertialy, but i hope to find a way to do it both ways. To do it grab the bottom of it....

Edit: Fully resizable now. yet in order for it to be more intuitive i would need an option in columns ui panels to fully forbid resizing.

Just recently got it sorted out...few things to note:
- Browser on Autohide normally {expanded for S.S}
- Volume/Buttons/Seek on Autohide normally {expanded for S.S}
- Playback Order on Autohide next to Playlist Dropdown
- When Stopped, Radiactive sign in top Trackinfo straightens and centers.
- Own 'No Cover' image
- Most of the Single Columns from Tool++'s Layout.

New one for me.. Much cleaner than before.
