After having bad experiences ripping songs that had EAC read errors in, I've set EAC to skip when it encounters an error it can't recover from.

The problem is that on skipped files, it leave the .wav file, of the partially ripped song behind. How can I get it to delete the temporary file as well?

Doesn't EAC give you information by which you can identify the failures? If so,why worry what it leaves on disk. It is only the effort of a few seconds to delete them yourself once EAC finishes with the CD.
