I have the Jack Starr's Guardians of the Flame - Under A Savage Sky album...

I had ripped a long ago (a couple of years) and some days before I was in a hard rock mood and decided to listen to it.

I play my mp3s in Winamp...

The weird thing is that some of the songs cannot be played in Winamp huh.gif They are tagged correctly but when I look at the properties of the files through Winamp, all of the tag sections are blank!!

Weird isn't it?? I tried to re-tag them using TagScanner but the particular files still cannot be played in Winamp...

To make things even more weird, foobar can play the songs normally!!!

Can anyone of you tell my what the heck is going on??? (Just don't tell me to switch to foobar tongue.gif 'cause I'm not gonna to).

If you had the original CD then I suggest re-ripping it with a newer version of EAC (or a newer version of Winamp for that matter).

If foobar2000 plays the mp3's fine then I think the problem is in Winamp. You may want to try playing the mp3's in windows media player just to narrow down the problem. You also might want to try converting the ID tag information to version 2.3 (I think Winamp can do this) or 2.2. That is strange. You could also try re-installing winamp.

I am all out of suggestions. Hopefully someone with more experience with winamp can give you a better answer.

P.S. Iced Earth are pretty damned good.

Make sure that the filenames contain all the relevant info from the tags, then remove all tags with foobar (and tag properly). It seems there's a problem with the existing tags.

re-encode the files using EAC (thanks kornchild), using LAME encoder, nothing can defeat the power of LAME because it follows the standards of what should MP3 really is.
