Hey, I've now fully switched over to v0.9 of foobar2k but there is one problem I've yet to solve.

Because 0.9 works with ID3v2.4 tags (rather than v2.3) any tags it touches are unreadable on my 3G iPod. So it obviously just doesn't put tags into its database at all, making all the files somewhat anonymous on the iPod's screen. At least I am fairly sure that's what is causing the problem, correct me if it isn't.

How is everyone else dealing with this? I've had a bit of a search but can't find any solutions. I'm guessing that once foo_pod gets updated to 0.9 that will deal with the problem. But, until then, is there any other way of transfering music and getting those v2.4 tags into the iPod's database?

Well... use something else to transfer the files, i guess.

I guess you get to decide between iTunes and ephPod. I personally use ephPod, but i don't know if it supports ID3v2.4.

Yeah I'm really trying my hardest to avoid iTunes, besides I thought I had read elsewhere that it too had trouble with v2.4 tags??

EphPod unfortunately doesn't solve the problem.

With APEv2 and ID3v1 tags I have no problems, but I use foo_pod (with foobar 0.8.3) to transfer my files.

iTunes supposedly supports v2.4 tags. I have not tested it's support at all, but it is in there.

I don't understand what is meant by "only supports v2.4 tags". It certainly reads v2.3 tags, because all of my files use that version and I can see them all perfectly in 0.9.

However, whenever a new foo_pod comes out, this will have to looked into.

gecko: i mean that it is only able to write tags as v2.4. So once you've edited a tag with foobar 0.9 it will become a v2.4 tag.

i've just been trying iTunes (and reminding myself why i hate it so much...). It does indeed read the tags, but not perfectly - all the v2.4 tag fields get an extra 'undisplayable' character at the end of them. It's just an outlined square which is a bit annoying but doesn't show up on the iPod.

so yep i guess iTunes is the only real answer for now, but i hope there'll be a better solution soon
