Hi guys! I've recently updated the GStreamer-based ABX-comparator for GNOME.

Download and screenshots here:
http://abx-comparator.berlios.de/
GNOMEFiles page here (please vote!):
http://gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=1355

Requires Gstreamer-0.10, PyGTK-2.8 and gst-python-0.10.
Please post your comments and suggestions.

That's pretty cool, thanks. Pity about the gstreamer bugs - hopefully the gstreamer team can get them fixed soon.

Heh, you should instead title it "Yet another Linux tool for Abx": YALTA.
Or would it be hubris to name your program after an event that determined much of the history of the second half of the 20th century?

Good idea, but I decided not to start the name with neither "YA" nor "G", because there're toooo many "yet another blah blah" acronyms as well as "Gblahblah"-titled apps... So I did not come with anything better than the current title. What event do you mean by the way?

The Yalta Conference was a meeting between heads of state during the dying moments of World War II. At this conference, Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt fought over the structure of europe after the war. It created the climate which sparked the cold war and indirectly the Korean and Vietnam wars and American involvement in South America, Afghanistan and the Middle East. It was one of the defining moments of the twentieth century.

Oh, THAT meeting! smile.gif Well, in that case, such a cool name surely does not fit an app THAT small smile.gif

UPDATE: FLAC decoder now supports segments (latest gst-plugins-good cvs, requires cvs GStreamer). So now we can at least compare WAV and FLAC vs. MP3 without any problems smile.gif

CVS? And I had just installed the Dapper beta to get gstreamer 0.10 on my home machine mad.gif

Just kidding - it's a great piece of software - keep up the good work. smile.gif

Update: version 0.2 released, which should be (although not much) better smile.gif

Do you plan to support ABC/HR? (like http://ff123.net/abchr/abchr.html )

I didn't think of ABC/HR yet. When I was writing this app, I only needed a simple ABX comparator. But I can add ABC/HR mode if you like wink.gif Wait for another release or two!
