i have wondred for some time what the benefits of .mp4 container are ,instead of just having the raw .aac ?

If the ADTS header is stripped from the .aac file is the resulting .mp4 smaller ?
because right now I'm using winrar to compress my .aac's to archive another ~6% compression

MP4 file is usually smaller than an AAC file with ADTS header. The actual AAC data inside is the same.
MP4 will have a lot better support in the future.

smaller size really ??? it's bigger for me !
but. mp4 i think is better than aac because
it's not necessary to scan the whole of file !

aaah so the load time would be decreased due to the header infomation ?

that is nice since it take a couple of seconds to load a 300mb aac file
Mac
couple of seconds?

Takes me 15 to load a 100mb aac! 0 seconds to load a 100mb mp4 smile.gif

Hmmm...2 seconds to open a 300mb AAC file is rather impressive unless your AAC if on a SCSI RAID array.
