Hey guys!

I recently purchased a pack of Labelflash DVD-R media just to see how Labelflash works. However, none of the Nero versions I tried (Nero 7.0.8.2, Nero 6.6.1.3 that came with the unit, Nero 6.6.1.4) was able to print anything on the label side of the discs. The unit spun the DVD and started writing and after about 5 minutes (fast), the tray opened and the disc didn't have anything written to it. I also tried using the high quality profile and after 25 minutes, still nothing. Any idea?

Regards,
Sebastian

Reflashed the device with firmware 1.08 and it seems to work - sort of. Nero CoverDesigner crashes telling me that an unhadled exception occurred in LLS.DLL and Nero Burning ROM burns the discs with an ugly border.

Edit: I hope you can see it:

OK, I made some more pictures which I hope to be useful. The quality is not very good because of the shiny discs - sorry.

This is the old picture that was made after flashing the device the second time. You might see a dark border (ring) that is over the light rectangle:

These two were also made after flashing the device the second time. I only printed the word "Musik" at the top and "Mike Oldfield" and "Pink Floyd" at the bottom without fancy boxes or backgrounds:

Notice how the "M" is not fully printed and also contains an artifact: the angled "line" seems to be a bit shifted to the left.

These three are the same as the first picture posted, but I hope they have a better quality. You should be able to recognize a dark ring that runs around the outer part of the disc:

Finally, this is what happened after reflashing the unit a third time... Instead of the picture being printed on the whole disc surface, there is a thick dark ring that can be seen over the saxophone:

This is what the picture should look like (got it from the LightScribe gallery):

Edit: Burnt a Disc T@2 label and it worked flawlessly.

That only adds to the bad position of Lightscribe. I mean, direct printing on printable media has better quality, full color, and is way faster and cheaper.

Okay, maybe it's nice to try it out if you have the burner for it.

It was only for testing, yes. Since I purchased new burners, I didn't mind having LightScribe (BenQ) and Labelflash (NEC). Something tells me that it's either the device's or Nero's fault. Too bad SureThing does not support LF yet - I could've tested if Nero is the cause of the problem.
