I have been comparing the output of FAAD2.0 with that of the ISO Reference code for the AAC codec using the Sine Sweep audio reference files. The ISO output in 24-bit pcm format show considerable noise levels and frequency warping. The spectrum shows lots of periodic errors. Whereas the FAAD output is a very clean sine sweep signal.

So my question is - has anybody else observed this?

i just want to make sure that i am not making a mistake somewhere.

the build environment for both FAAD and ISO are Windows 2000 systems.

FAAD was built in floating point, little endian confiuration.
ISO code was also built in floating point, little endian configuration.

please feel free to contact me if u have any ideas, views or suggestions

thankies.
