this is an issue that has been pissing me off for quite a while.

let's say that i have a couple of artists in foobar's database(or w/e it uses to store all the songs). now lets say that i removed some music files from my harddrive to save space or for another reason. the info will still remain in there but if i use Rescan Media Library and Refresh the Album List panel, it will be fixed and the music that has gone is no more in the database. however, if i restart foobar2000 AFTER i do all of this, the artists will still be in the library. does anyone know what could be happening?

thats true and happens to me to!
even if:
1. I deleted the files using foobar
2. rescanned my music libary
3. i deleted the database file and rescanned my music libary!

is there a solution?

Are the files in any playlists?

I've had this problem aswell....

Likewise. And every time I see this thread someone asks if they're in a playlist smile.gif In my case, they're not in a playlist, yet they always come back. And 'Remove dead entries' does nothing. Why isn't there an option to re-scan the library for new files, rather than doing it all from scratch?

Are the files in any playlists?

only the Browser plugin. it writes all the entries to the "Default" playlist

edit: just tried rescanning the library, refreshing the album list, and refreshing the Browser plugin. after that, i restarted and it worked like a a charm.

What about right clicking on the artist or album you deleted and doing "remove dead entires (slow) " ?
zamel
I don't have this problem anymore since I installed 0.9.1

how about trying to use album list, right click on all music and remove dead entries(slow)
