Full Version: EAC Plextor Premium rips cutting off at end of CD

The topic title describes what I'm experiencing. After ripping about fifty CD's into MP3 I listened to one, and at the end of the last track it cut off about three or four seconds. The CD was over 74 minutes, and it was a CD-R on an 80 minute disc (Hi Space brand). I've tried ripping just that last track, and the same problem. I've changed the drive options, gap detection methods A,B, and C, Secure, Inaccurate and Accurate without success. Any advice?

I must confess, I'm not very experienced with this process. How do I check the WAV files' status? BTW, I just tried the last track of another album which is only 64 minutes long, and it cut off the last track on that one too.

Basically, try ripping just to WAV, uncompressed, and check the end of that, so we know it's not just the MP3 encoding doing that.

Also, have you set the correct offset for your drive? I'm not sure how much of a time difference that makes but either way it doesn't hurt to have it set correctly.

Check if the wav file length is the same as the track length displayed by EAC before the rip.

Sorry to take so long getting back, but my provider had an outage. The wav file works fine, and it's something like 20 seconds longer than the MP3 file.

Ooops, I just made a mistake. I don't understand this at all, but the wav file is the same time as the MP3, and yet it has about ten to twenty more seconds of actual music content on it. Any explanation for this?

Maybe the MP3 is corrupted. This can happen if the encoding window is closed before the end of the encoding process. Or maybe if you try to listen to the MP3 before it has been completely encoded.
Or the player is bugged and stops playing before the end of the MP3.

No, I've let everything run to its close with EAC, and I use iTunes to play. I will try another player just to see if it could be iTunes. Most of my rips sound fine. I have the complete set of Mozart Piano Concertos with Ashkenazy, and every last track is perfect. Sometimes there is as much as 15 seconds of silence after the last note is played, and other times the track ends immediately after the last note, but it's just on a few CD's that the last track is corrupted in the MP3 encoded file.
The offset tab says 'actual' speed and the first box is checked, "Allow speed reduction during extraction". The second box is unchecked, "CD-Text Read capable drive".
Thanks for trying to help.

iTunes has been reported to stop playing MP3s made with LAME before they're actually finished. I've seen it mentioned here before. TRy another player to see if that's the case.

You got it, Firon! Thanks. I just assumed iTunes was the best player. Now I'm wondering what the consensus is for playing and for easy management of playlists. I'm using the AV710 with an optical cable to my Denon receiver into Magnepans with a subwoofer. Thanks again for the brain work. I owe ya one.
