New to the forum, but an interested reader for some time and havent managed to find any answers to the question:

Can you convert an ALAC library to FLAC in an automated fashion whilst exporting the album art stored in the file to the FLAC album directory?

The reason being I've converted my entire collection to Apple Lossless but am about to venture down the squeezebox route, and would like to convert to FLAC to help my WLAN since its transcoded on the box itself and also so that I never run into any DRM issues in the future.

Any help very much appreciated.

I'm in the same boat. Running Windows XP and Fedora Core 5. Foobar will do the conversions, but it won't delete the ALAC file, unless I'm missing something. I have about 75GB of a 100GB drive full, and I'd rather not have to go back and delete ALAC by hand.

Any other options out there?

Does Foobar export the album art out of the alac file and place it in the directory of the flac files?

thanks.

There are lots of options for the conversion, like dbPoweramp and foobar however I don't know about the album art. Can anyone help?

I just used dbPoweramp to convert all my ALAC files to FLAC. It did not bring the album cover art with it, and I saw no option to do it.

I didn't use Foobar because it wouldn't automatically delete the original file. Again, I saw no option to import album cover art.
