Hi

I really like Foobar because it's so minimal, but I cannot buy the songs I've bought off of itunes. Somebody has developed a plugin for winamp to do this, and it works good. Could someone port this plugin to foobar2000?

Thanks, Alex

Do a search. There was some talk of doing this years ago, but it looks like no one was interested.

So it's hopeless?

how can someone port it with no source code? and also buying music with foobar2000 is just retarted. you have to understand that it's just a media player. nothing more. the plugins are all just something extra.

also, i believe that music bought from the iTunes store have DRM on it which makes the music impossible to play with anything other than iTunes. well, unless someone can make a DRM-compatable plugin for another media player.

the winamp plugin is drm compatible. it reads the MP4-P files from the itunes music store.

okay now i know it wont / cant be done I guess. thanks all.

Vendor Lock-In is part of the idea behind DRM.

So if you decide to buy DRMed music, then dont expect that you can do with it whatever you want.
buying DRMed wares = you give up the freedom to do whatever you want with the good you bought.

So the short version is: if your files are DRMed, then dont expect compatibility (this does not just relate to foobar but every application except iTunes). If you lock yourself in, then dont expect others to help you out.
