Hi there

About a week ago, a few friends of mine recorded some lyrics they created for a song they actually wrote (what a concept, eh?)

The only problem, is that they don't have any idea of what type of music to include for the background. I have searched high and low for something SIMPLE to create some background music for this project, and I have come up blank.

I am despriatley looking for someone that would be able to assist me in creating some background music for a small song for a little bit of side cash.

Anybody that can give a lending hand on this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance! I look forward to seeing some e-mails!

I'd try a guitar, but if you're going for something more synthesised and artificial, you might want sequencing software, like cakewalk and others. However these are probably not what you would consider simple. Another idea is if you have a synthesiser/keyboard you could use this (with the cheesy backings etc.) and either directly record this or use MIDI to transfer it to sequencer software on your computer.

Reason or Traktor or Acid?

i'd be interested. I wouldn't mind messing around with adding sounds behind a vocal track. The only problem is that I am very good, and my work ethic is poor. But then again, I've never had a real "assignment" either... It'll give me motivation to

Trackers are always nice and easy for composition. Modplug Tracker's UI is great and straightforward, and it's free, if a little antiquated. Download it here. Buzz Tracker's also free, but can be a hassle to make work properly.

Psycle is a nice free tracker too (comparable to Buzz, but less bloated and more stable).

Canar: the only issue with ModPlug is that the volume output is too low, so when you play anything made in it with bass or DUMB, the volume will be a lot higher than you'd expect. So keep that in mind.
