Short history -
I wanted bit for bit accruacy out of my PC for music. Running WMCE
I was told I could use the CMI 6876 (or whatever it was) using the MAudio drivers. Tried that, didn't work.
Then I was told to buy the Chaintech AV-710. Was told that was bit for bit accurate without any mods. So I did, and got it yesterday.
Situation now -
I installed the drivers which came with the CD, the there was sound straight away from the digital out. However everything was in 48kHz mode. There was no control panel or anything where I could make any kind of adjustments. I thought this was rather strange so downloaded the drivers from VIA. Installed 5.00b, and it keeps crashing my system. Installed 5.00b and 4.7xx, and they all did the same thing. Crashes when I try to load the Audio Deck (or whatever it's called). Went to Chaintech's website and downloaded the drivers from there, and it seems to install and run without crashing, but no sound, and the control panel seems to only sit in the systray, can't get it to open or do anything else. So I tried installing the original drivers which came with the card again, and this time, that dosen't even work now.
It sounds like a Windows issue to me, but thought I'd ask if anyone has any ideas on how to solve this.
Thanks

Does WMCE has system restore? If they have, you could try to do the restore, and install those Chaintech downloaded drivers.

WMCE is basically XP with some add ons, so I don't see why it wouldn't have it. I'll give it a go tonight and see what happens.
uninstall the drivers via add remove, reboot, run installer again, install the latest VIA drivers that is

Sounds like you have system issues other than just audio. Remove all audio devices, remove drivers and then reinstall the drivers for the 710.

OK. After all that. I have wiped everything off and installed a fresh Win XP SP2. Installed LAN, Video drives only. Then installed the latest VIA ENVY24 drivers (5.00b?). Installs fine, works fine. Got into the control panel and everything is working ... except how do I get it bit for bit accurate?
The reason I got this card is because I was under the impression that I could get my music playing bit for bit accurate using the drivers which come with it (no hacking or 3rd party driver).
Is there anything I need to achieve this? I basically just want to play my WAV files which I've ripped bit for bit accurate into my DAC.
Thanks in advanced.

Got it!
Downloaded Foobar2000 and the Kernel Streaming plugin, and everythign works fine. Tested some DTS CD's in foobar, and it's prefect.
The only issue is while the music is playing, and if there's any other sounds (windows sounds or some other program), the music stops completely and the other sound plays, then silence. The music dosen't resume. But I can live with that.
Cheers to everyone for their help.
