I use foobar (0.9) to manage my music, but I also have an iPod shuffle, which I use without iTunes. I have a python script on my shuffle that I run, which automatically finds the music on the shuffle, puts it in the database and gets me ready to roll. Here's my conundrum:

The Shuffle, like all other iPods, does not play FLAC files, of which 80% of my library consists. I'd like to run a batch convert to create a lossy copy of all of these such files in a separate directory. The files that are already lossy, however, I would like to be copied DIRECTLY, rather than re-encoded. Is it possible to tell foobar to do this? Or am I SOL? Foobar seems by far the most advanced and systematic audio player out there, so I'm really hoping it has an answer smile.gif

Many many thanks in advance,
Robby

Sort by codec, convert the flac files. While this is running, select the lossy files and use the copy tool.

Thanks Mike, great idea. It would be awesome if Foobar could be automated to run scripts using its pre-existing language (cough idea cough), but this is a great work-around.
