Full Version: Itunes/5g Ipod question? Replaygain?

Is it me, or does my 5g ipod implement the replaygain values in my mp3s? They are in my id3v2 tags, and those tracks are much softer than the ones that are normalized with soundcheck.

I turned off soundcheck on my ipod, and the songs that are replaygained become a little bit louder (they have soundcheck implemented also) while the others that dont have soundcheck or replaygain are still much louder.

Is my ipod reading the replaygain values in the id3v2 tags or not?

It does if you put rockbox on it wink.gif

Otherwise no I'm afraid not. You'd have to get software to convert those values into whatever soundcheck does to your MP3s.

Have you ever run MP3Gain on the MP3's, or did you use foobar to put the RG info in there?

MP3Gain will indeed cause effects that are audible on the iPod.

no- i have never used mp3gain- just replaygain from foobar. I would like to use mp3gain, but from my understanding it is tough to undo changes when implemented in the id3v2 tags?
