Well, when I was testing I was using D:\temp as destination directory in EAC. The only way I could find to make Mareo encode the files, fix the tags and then leave the files in D:\temp, was to define it as [FINALPATH], which is pretty cumbersome if I have several albums to rip, and several different directories I want to put them in. What I want is simply to keep the encoded files wherever EAC puts the ripped files, and as far as I can tell, that's currently not possible.

For example, let's say I have 6 different albums to rip, and want this final directory structure:

music/artist 1 - album 1
music/artist 2/album 2
music/artist 2/album 3
music/genre/artist 3 - album 4
music/genre/artist 4/album 5
music/genre/artist 4/album 6

There is no way I could automate this, so I prefer to create the directories beforehand and rip straight to them. Using normal EAC operation, that works fine. Not so with Mareo, at least not so far as I've discovered.

sorry, i don't get it, why can't you tell MAREO where to put the files?

Still wondering if you've have an idea on my PlexTools issue.

Thanks again,
Rich

Hi

About your PlexTools issue... Maybe I can be of some assistance. Here some tips that could resolve the problem:
1. Fullpath both times (ex.: P:\Programme\Plextor\PTPXL\mareo\mareo.exe
P:\Programme\Plextor\PTPXL\mareo\mareo.ini %S %O "%A" "%C" "%T" "%N" %Y "%G" "%D")
2. Output Path = a constant directory where you want to store your wavetemps.
3. My PTPXL program folder also contains the mareo files and the encoders.

Well, I guess that was all pointed out already but still, those options are the basics

If it still doesn't work, just ask. The thing is, I'd just have to know the details concerning your MAREO setup (step by step) or else I can't figure out the problem for you smile.gif

P.S.: About the error concerning the command line arguments not accepting the full path... Can't help you there (unfortunately)

Regards

Well, because I don't want to have to. I want to tell EAC were to put the files, and for Mareo to leave them there after encoding.
kwanbis
but if you tell EAC where to put some files, you can also tell MAREO to put them there.

Yes, I know I can put the same directory I extract the files to with EAC in the mareo.ini, but the thing is, I don't want to! That would mean I would have to edit the .ini every time I wanted to extract a new album. I want put something like [SOURCEDIR] as the destination, so that Mareo always leaves the files were EAC put them, regardless of whether it's d:\temp, c:\my music, or whatever. I haven't found any way of having Mareo do that, short of disabling renaming, which is not a very good solution as I end up with files with garbage filenames.
Franky
OK, I thought I'd show you my ini, and see if I can get things straightened out. I could be doing something very wrong, if so please tell me so.

Hre's my ini:
CODE
PaddingZeros = 2
LogToScreen = TRUE
LogToFile = TRUE
DeleteWavFile = TRUE
CorrectionChar = _

EXECUTEIF = TRUE
FINALPATH = NONE
FINALNAME = NONE
EXTENSION = NONE
ENCODEREXE = wavegain.exe
PARAMETERS = --radio --apply --noclip "[SOURCE]"
RENAME = FALSE

EXECUTEIF = TRUE
FINALPATH = NONE
FINALNAME = [TRACKPADDED] - [TITLE]
EXTENSION = m4a
ENCODEREXE = neroAacEnc.exe
PARAMETERS = -br 128000 -if "[SOURCE]" -of "[DESTTMP]"
RENAME = FALSE

EXECUTEIF = TRUE
FINALPATH = NONE
FINALNAME = [TRACKPADDED] - [TITLE]
EXTENSION = m4a
ENCODEREXE = Neroaactag.exe
PARAMETERS = "[DESTTMPFULLNAME]" -meta:artist="[ARTIST]" -meta:album="[ALBUM]" -meta:title="[TITLE]" -meta:track="[TRACK]" -meta:year="[YEAR]" -meta:genre="[GENRE]"
RENAME = FALSE

This ini works exactly like I want it to, except that since it doesn't rename the files, I end up with a file named, as an example, Btmp77268.m4a. If I change the last RENAME to TRUE, it spits out an error, and doesn't tag the file. I've tried setting the last FINALPATH to . (which should mean "the current directory") and [DESTTMPPATH]. None of those worked.

Hi Guys,

I am having a problem with the parameter passing on certain 'Various' cd's.

The bottom line, is that in EAC, if the track name appears with a hyphen in it - rather than a / (i.e. a forward slash), then the parameters aren't passed correctly.

You can see here from this log output - the difference that happens:

First with a hyphen & without a forward slash - you will see that the title, track, year, etc are all out of sync:

CODE

*** Parsed Parameters ***

INIFILE       (%1) = mareo.ini
[SOURCE]      (%2) = X:\RIP\new-rip\It's All Gone Pete Tong\0tmp54266.wav
[DESTTMP]     (%3) = X:\RIP\new-rip\It's All Gone Pete Tong\0tmp54266.xxx
[ARTIST]      (%4) = Graham Massey - Dry Pool Suicide
[ALBUM]       (%5) = It's All Gone Pete Tong
[TITLE]       (%6) = 03
[TRACK]       (%7) = 2005
[TRACKPADDED]      = 2005
[YEAR]        (%8) = Soundtrack
[GENRE]       (%9) = Unknown

But in this one - with a forward slash in EAC all is correct:

*** Parsed Parameters ***

INIFILE       (%1) = mareo.ini
[SOURCE]      (%2) = X:\RIP\new-rip\It's All Gone Pete Tong\0tmp56)!5.wav
[DESTTMP]     (%3) = X:\RIP\new-rip\It's All Gone Pete Tong\0tmp56)!5.xxx
[ARTIST]      (%4) = Graham Massey
[ALBUM]       (%5) = It's All Gone Pete Tong
[TITLE]       (%6) = Dry Pool Suicide
[TRACK]       (%7) = 3
[TRACKPADDED]      = 03
[YEAR]        (%8) = 2005
[GENRE]       (%9) = Soundtrack

It is possible to rectify it - by changing the hyphen to a slash - but this is quite a lot of work if an album has 30 tracks on it.

I was wondering if this could be realted to the filename tab options under EAC general options.

The naming scheme I am using at present is:

%D - %C\%N. %T - %A

and for various: %C\%N. %T - %A

I note that I am not the only person to note this issue - as there is an aunanswered post at:

Click here for other report of same issue

Everything else works a treat - thank you!

best,
Simon

Hey Guys,

Great news!

I found that in EAC you can alter hyphens into forward slash's for the whole disk - under the database menu.

MAREO 4.0.6 is out.

I changed two things:

1) I fixed MAREO, now you can use [DESTTMPPATH] as in FINALPATH = [DESTTMPPATH]\
QUOTE(Franky @ Aug 21 2006, 21:01) *

I've tried setting the last FINALPATH to . (which should mean "the current directory") and [DESTTMPPATH]. None of those worked.

2) now, if no path is specified to the mareo.ini file, MAREO uses is own path.
example, if MAREO is called like:

mareo.exe mareo.ini "original.wav" "original.mp3" "Medina Azahara" "A toda esa gente: Vivo" "Bidaiah" "1" 1972 "Rock" 1 2 3

and MAREO.exe is on c:\encoders, it would look for the INI in c:\encoders\mareo.ini
hellokeith
Hello kwanbis,

Thank you very much for your time and effort into this tool. I am now successfully encoding flac (for archive and PC playback) and wma (for portable playback) in one EAC ripping session. smile.gif

For WMA, I am using the Windows Media Encoder and Windows Media Encoder SDK, both found here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...er/default.mspx
The WMSDK includes a free Visual Basic script for batch command-line encoding.

Here is the WMA section of my mareo.ini file:
CODE
; ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; WMA 9.1: Windows Media Encoder with CLI tool from SDK
; ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXECUTEIF = TRUE
FINALPATH = [MYMUSIC]\[ALBUM]\
FINALNAME = [ALBUM] - [TRACKPADDED] [TITLE]
EXTENSION = wma
ENCODEREXE = [SYSTEM]\cscript.exe
PARAMETERS =  "[PROGRAM_FILES]\Windows Media WMSDK\WMEncSDK9\samples\vb\wmcmd\Wmcmd.vbs" -input "[SOURCE]" -output "[DESTTMP]" -a_codec WMA9STD -a_mode 3 -a_setting 128_44_2 -author "[ARTIST]" -title "[TITLE]" -copyright "[YEAR]" -description "[ALBUM]"
RENAME = TRUE

VBS files are run by cscript.exe (a standard component of Windows XP afaik), found in \windows\system32\. The path to the WMSDK is set during its install, so others may need to adjust that path, and notice I had to use quotations for the vbs file. The particular encoding settings I'm using are 44kHz 2-channel @ 128Kbps VBR 2-pass.

A couple of minor EAC+Mareo issues I'm having:

1. It appears Mareo cannot be run in multiple instances? The setting in EAC which allows for # of compressor threads seems to crash Mareo if more than 1.
2. Disabling the compressor cmd window in EAC seems to also crash Mareo.

Thanks again, great tool! biggrin.gif

QUOTE(The Deep Fat Friar @ May 20 2006, 19:24) *

OK, I'm trying to set my PC up so that I can insert a CD, look up the track details (inc. album art if poss) and then encode 2 versions of each track. Flac for my Squeezebox and MP3 for my iPod.

I've got as far as EAC, which is working well at creating the individual formats above, and I've just added MAREO. This is where things go wrong, I've followed the instructions but whenever MAREO tries to encode an MP3 using the default settings it crashes with a windows error report. (lame.exe is in the same directory as MAREO "C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy\encoders\")

I've tried setting the LogToFile to false to no avail... any ideas?

Fat Friar's original post from several months ago went unanswered as far as I know, but it turns out I am having the same problem. started looking around for a better way to manage my music a few days ago and thought I had hit the jackpot in the discovery that EAC could be used with Mareo to generate both FLAC (for Sonos and archiving) and MP3 (for portable MP3 player). Exactly what Mareo is supposed to do, and it seems that plenty of people out there are using it for just that.

I have spent virtually the whole weekend reading thread after thread about how to set everything up but I just cant get it to work. no matter how many times I check and double check the various files, commands and configuration settings etc I run into the same problem as the Friar - I get a dialogue box with a message saying that "mareo.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". crying.gif THis happens after EAC reads the file. It does COPY OK but then it crashes when it moves on to the stage "Compress Track by External Program". Another error box appears on screen saying; "an external compressor returned an error".

no flac or mp3 output is generated, just a wav file (in the specified path for flac output). As far as I know I am running latest versions of EAC, Mareo, Lame and FLAC.

My command line in EAC external compression box is C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy\mareotest3.ini %s %d "%a" "%g" "%t" "%n" %y "m"

Also tried the above command line without the full path, i.e. just mareotest3.ini (which is in the EAC folder)

PLEASE help - someone out there must be able to shed light on this....please tell me this is just something really small and dumb on my part and that it can be put right easily and quickly so that I know I havent wasted the entire weekend in pursuit of what others seem to experience as a starightforward solution.

thanks in advance everyone....

Download this version of MAREO: http://www.webearce.com.ar/mareo41.rar

It can create many log files, if MAREO is called more than once (or so i hope)

Also, don't tell EAC to hide MAREO screen, that could be one problem.

The INI no longer has the LogToScreen and LogToFile options, as it always logs now.

Let me know what happens.

Hi Kwanbis,

thks very much for the reply. I have done the following:

Removed LogToScreen and LogToFile lines from the ini file
D/loaded mareo41.rar and put files in to EAC folder (but still using same (now modified as per above) ini file - presume this is ok??)
I told EAC not to hide the external compressor window (in EAC options)
Also, changed number of simultaneuos external compressor threads setting in EAC. This had been 2, but I have tried it at 1 and also with this option deselected.

Bad news is, even after above changes, I am still getting a Mareo crash as before, though now i do get to see the mareo dos window open up before the crash. Anything else that you, or anyone else, can suggest???

Yours in (ever-decreasing!) hope,

Simon

not sure if I understand what you mean here kwanbis. What i have done is to remove all references to LAME from the ini file, so that EAC is only dealing with one encoder (i.e. FLAC). is this what you mean, or is there some setting somewhere to change something elsewhere...??

do you mean the EAC Options\tools\ setting of the 'number of simultaneuos external compressor threads'?

I currently have this set to 1. I have also tried 2. And I have also tried unchecking this box. But none of these different settings worked.

Is there a different setting to deal with what you are referring to?

I recently installed EAC & Mareo 4... I'm having a problem having it do FLAC & MP3. It will do one, or the other, but not both. I can put FLAC first in the .ini and FLAC gets encoded, but MP3 does not. If I reverse the order in the .ini, MP3 gets encoded, but FLAC does not.

Also, the WAV file doesn't get deleted.

let MAREO delete the WAV. EAC gets confused, and delete the encoded file, instead of the wav.

MAREO 4.5 is out. I love dbpoweramp, and i wanted to make it work with it. I found out, that if MAREO logs to the screen, dbpoweramp breaks it. So, i have made 2 changes:

Now, to call MAREO, *before* the INI, you must tell it if you want to log to a TXT file (fON) or not (fOFF), and then if you want it to log to the screen (sON) or not (sOFF), so, for example, if your command line was:

mareo.ini [infile] [outfile] "[artist]" "[album]" "[title]" [track] [year] [genre]

now should be

Fon Soff mareo.ini [infile] [outfile] "[artist]" "[album]" "[title]" [track] [year] [genre]

Of course, the respective MAREO.INI action lines have been removed.

To set up the new dbpoweramp beta, like here:

I hoped with this change MAREO could be working with foobar2000. Tried the setup as shown on the MAREO homepage and also some setups posted earlier in this thread.

Nothing seems to work. foobar2000 just creates a temporary wav-file and then waits for MAREO to encode. MAREO is started (shows up in task manager) but does absolutely nothing. I have to close it manualy (through task manager) if i want to abort foobar2000 converter.

My last try was like this:
Single track output filename:
CODE
%artist%\'['%date%'] '%album%\%artist%' - '%tracknumber%' - '%title%
(But foobar doesn't seem to care about this input because i have to chose manualy where to put the file and the temporary wav shows up in whatever directory i have chosen.)

MAREO Parameters:
CODE
Fon Soff mareo.ini %s %d "%artist%" "%album%" "%title%" %tracknumber%" "%date%" "%genre%" "%totaltracks%"

Just while i wrote this i found something myself: foobar2000 passes "Blind Guardians - 01 - fly.mp3" as [DESTTMP] and not something like "D:\Temp\temp-9BC99351037F6983D65D524CD9BD5459.mp3" or even "D:\Temp\Blind Guardians - 01 - fly.mp3".

In my opinion it seems to be a problem caused by foobar2000 because it doesn't pass a correct desttemp parameter!?
<edit>If i start MAREO with f2k-settings in a DOS-window and add a destination directory to the "temporary" mp3 name everything works fine, so maybe i'm right that f2k should pass a pathname with the temporary mp3 name.</edit>

The final full name scheme comes from the mareo.ini but doesn't count because the mp3 encoder (/wapet) part of the mareo processing order is set to rename = false. If i try the same and chose the final file to be put in exactly the path that mareo is expecting it doesn't work, too.

During my tests i found out that MAREO works if you put the original file in the foobar2000 directory (where also my mareo.exe, wapet.exe, lame.exe and flac.exe are placed) and chose the foobar2000 directory as output directory. As i tried this i also was able to see that foobar2000 doesn't care at all about what is written in the "Single track output filename" field.

Here a mareo.log from a succesfull try:

Strange: MAREO produces an mp3 but the encoding order stops after wapet mp3 and no flac file is created. So the success is not complete...

For comparison a log of my last succesfull conversion with MAREO 4.0.4 (which i still use) and EAC. The ini is almost identical with the ini used for foobar2000 (for foobar2000 i just added the full path to wapet.exe):

Why is MAREO recognizing the flac encoder here but not in my foobar2000 setting?
<edit>Maybe my f2k MAREO (4.5) ignores the second encoder because i didn't think of including the "CorrectionChar = _" Parameter. This could also be the Problem of "3D Peruna". See this post. The Problem of "rockbox" with CorrectionChar seems to be that f2k kills a dot (.) if standing at the end of a path name while MAREO changes it to "_".</edit>

PS: don't care about the "s" in "Blind Guardians" i rewrote the tag so the original file won't be overwriten. I just use this wrong tagged file for testing...

PPS: sorry for making such a loooooooooong post!
kwanbis
you must include the correctionchar line. I would take a look at fb2k latter, but it's obvious that MAREO *IS* running, so it should be a matter of understanding what is the problem wink.gif
start78
I tried it with the correctionchar line included and this solved the problem with the second encoder being ignored. But as long as MAREO isn't told a path for the temporary output file it tells the first encoder to make this file in the folder where mareo.exe is placed.

Mareo.exe and all other needed exe files are placed in the f2k directory so i suppose the temporary output file should be created there during the process. But that does not happen. There is no file during the process that could possibly be the temporary output file. Nowhere!

Only if i choose the f2k directory as output directory the temporary wav is created there and mareo automaticaly tells the first encoder to produce the temporary output file there, too. In this case everything works perfect. Perhaps it is necessary for mareo that temporary wav and temporary output file are created in the same folder?

Only thing i didn't try is if it's also necessary that the original file is placed in the f2k directory. But i don't think so because f2k creates the temporary wav before mareo gets involved and the temporary wav i always created in the chosen output directory.

A possible workaround could be that mareo automaticaly uses the path of the input file for the temporary output file if no path is specified...? But i don't know if this could break mareo for other programs.

Do you have a clue why f2k ignores the single track output filename parameters?
GHammer
That is the main reason I keep 0.8.3 on my system.

I have never been able to get MAREO to run with any 0.9 foobar.

Hopefully someone will have more than "Follow the website" to offer in the way of getting them to be happy with each other.

kwanbis
I just tested MAREO with foobar2000 9.4 beta. It works perfect:

GHammer
Hello,

Thanks for that, I now can get MAREO to run from 0.9.4

However (isn't there always one?), only one encoder will be triggered.

I have all encoders in D:\Encoders

I have foobar encode to D:\Transcode\Artist\Album

I am trying to get LAME followed by mp3gain track mode

Here is my ini:

As you see the 2nd encoder (mp3gain) was not called.

Any ideas?

DeleteWavFile = FALSE

is missing.
GHammer
Actually, it was [FINALFULLNAME]

I changed the order of renaming so that LAME does not and mp3gain does.

Then I could use [DESTTMPFULLNAME] and all is well.

I did add a DeleteWavFile = FALSE (or TRUE) before with no difference. It is there now that you mentioned it.

start78
Hmm...

If i use the same parameters as you in f2k 0.9.4 with this ini i get "Error flushing file (Object not found) : file://E:\Eigene Dateien\Eigene Musik\Die AErzte - 17 - zusammenfassung.mp3". The mp3 is in f2k-directory and not in the destination directory i chose but the flac is where it should be.

If i delete the "[OWNPATH]\" in front of "wapet.exe" mareo hangs up. Look a few posts back where i described that this ini (without "[OWNPATH]\") works if i let mareo convert a wav file from DOS console.

Here a log with above ini where i recieved the mp3 in f2k-directory. It seems more and more that the problem is f2k not passing a destination directory along with the destination filename...

QUOTE(kwanbis @ Sep 15 2006, 16:09) *

I had to add Fon Son MAREO.INI to my EAC compression additional settings box to get MAREO to launch, per the change Kwanbis made to the exe.

kwanbis, is it possible to have MAREO delete the junk files created by dBpowerAMP's CLI Encoder?
I'm using the new beta (and MAREO 4.5), and it's CLI Encoder just had to create files based off its Path and Naming settings.
The dud files don't consume too much disk space (just 1KB each, and IIRC contains only an APE tag at that), but still annoying nevertheless.

Thanks in advance...

Do you have an example? I love dbpoweramp, and use it myself. So if it something needed, I would try to implement it.
sh1leshk4
Sorry if I provided next-to-nothing info.

I was using the newest R12, beta 2.
I also used the latest CLI Encoder built specifically for that version, paired with MAREO 4.5.
Encoders are LAME 3.97 Final, iTunes 7.0.2 (via iTunesEncode 4.6), and WavPack 4.40.
'Path' is set with the default : My Documents/My Music.
'Naming' is also set with the default.

Anyway, I just solved my own problem.
Seems I have to match the naming rule in dBA so that it'd create the same directory as the one I set in mareo.ini.
Also, I have to set CLI Encoder's encoder.txt so that it contains the same extension as the format I wanted to encode my CD to.
i.e .m4a if I wanted to use iTunesEncode.

That'd make the junk file dBA created being overwritten by the real encodings from MAREO.
Else, dBA will make junk files in the directory that's specified in its 'Path' and 'Naming' settings.
In my first case, dBA made a folder in My Documents/My Music that contains 0~1KB files.
0KB if you set dBA not to write the ID tags, and 1KB if it's being set to.

Probably not too important to be implemented in MAREO, since it might delete the right files if the folder specified in mareo.ini and dBA are the same.
sh1leshk4
Ok, here's a few tips in using MAREO with fb2k after a few test runs.
The versions concerned are MAREO 4.5 and fb2k 0.9.4.2; they're not too old, I hope. =)
Please note that this tip is to avoid the flushing file error.

MAREO's Parameter

First off, the parameter that should be thrown into mareo.exe is :

CODE
Fon Soff mareo.ini %s %d "%artist%" "%album%" "%title%" %tracknumber% "%date%" "%genre%"

File name extension

Now this is the 'tricky' part : file name extension.

The extension should be one of the target formats.
i.e if you want to encode to MP3 and M4A, then you can fill either 'mp3' or 'm4a'.
But there's more to the story; by specifying the extension, you actually specify which resulting format has its ID tags modified by fb2k (it's the normal fb2k behavior, actually).
In short, if you fill in 'mp3', then fb2k will copy the tags for the current track into the MP3 file, and leave the M4A file untouched.

The encoding steps are somewhat like this :
  1. fb2k decodes to a WAV.
  2. MAREO encodes the WAV into several formats; tags them accordingly.
  3. MAREO signals fb2k, "Yo, I'm done encoding!".
  4. fb2k then copies the tags to the format specified in the 'Extension' setting, overwriting the one that was written by MAREO.
And specifying the right extension still won't solve the flushing file error, actually.
Read on. =)

Output file names

The 'Single tracks' format is where you should pay attention to.
The resulting file name should be identical to the one you specify in mareo.ini.

Suppose in mareo.ini you specify the file name will be like 01 SongTitle, which is :

CODE
[TRACKPADDED] [TITLE]

Then the fb2k equivalent will be, among many variations you may think of, like this :

CODE
%track% %title%

And yet, this still doesn't solve our flushing file error problem.

Saving directory

The last step to avoid the flushing file error, I promise. =)

When asked where you want to save the encoded files by fb2k, you probably think that this doesn't have anything to do with MAREO.
Quite right, but fb2k won't think so.
You have to tell fb2k the same directory that MAREO will create for the format that you specified in the file name extension.

Which means, if in your mareo.ini you tell MAREO to save MP3 files in, say, E:\My Music\MP3\[ARTIST] - [ALBUM]\ where the artist is 'John Legend' and the album is 'Once Again', then you have to tell fb2k to save to this path, E:\My Music\MP3\John Legend - Once Again\.

Funny, since that directory is yet to be created by MAREO. =)
That's why, for the format which extension you specify in fb2k, you have to create the directory before you start encoding with MAREO.

Conclusion

In a normal transcoding job, fb2k always copy the existing tags into the newly encoded files after the encoding is finished.
So, basically, fb2k can't find the encoded file when MAREO says it's done encoding, which results in it barfing out 'flushing file' error.
With this in mind, normal MAREO operation should be possible, meaning using mp3gain and such should be a cinch; I've tried, and it worked fine.
Don't worry, fb2k won't 'erase' the gain when it's overwriting the ID tags from MAREO.

Other tips

Whenever you're using MAREO for transcoding into multiple formats, pay attention to the 'Highest BPS mode supported' setting.
Set it to the lowest between the encoders' (or formats') highest.
For example, LAME's highest is 24-bit and iTunes' is 32-bit, so you should set it to 24-bit.
Of course, you can set it to 32-bit, but you'll end up with M4A files full of music and MP3 files full of noise.

Also, if possible, don't use any settings that might result in using other-than-standard-Latin (or Unicode) characters in the file names.
MAREO handles Unicode characters by converting them into underscores, while fb2k fully supports Unicode; this'll lead into a flushing file error (again...).

That is all, I guess.
Sorry if this post gets too lengthy. =/

And kwanbis, this might be asking too much but, could you scrap mareoLAST.exe and just set it so mareo.exe can accept a 'total_track' variable?
If MAREO croaks out due to a failed 'experiment', it won't delete the mareoLAST.ini and will provide some frustrations to those who doesn't realize (yet) that it's the undeleted mareoLAST.ini that's causing the fuss.
Of course, that'd require you to handle blank 'Year' and 'Genre' info problem since not all ripper provide those kind of info (total tracks of a CD), which in turn returns a null or an empty string, I wouldn't know.
start78
Will test your how-to.

Looks like it could work. Is there a difference in encoding one file and more files? Because f2k doesn't use the "single track" naming scheme if encoding just one file. Maybe this f*cked up my tests: i always tried my settings by encoding just one file...

Thx so far. Maybe next year i'll have the time for my own tests.
sh1leshk4
I think fb2k will use the 'Single tracks' naming template even if it's just one file, as long as you're using 'Convert to...' or 'Convert to Same Directory'.
I did test with several single file encodings first before encoding the whole album, but it's possible what I did was only stopping the encode after one track is finished; I kinda forgot.

I'm thinking that converting to album images is possible too, along with the cuesheets.
But I think it'd only work for the format which extension is specified in fb2k; the cuesheets won't be there for other formats set in mareo.ini.
So, I guess it's better not to use MAREO for this purpose.
firemaplegirl
I just downloaded the most recent version of MAREO and it's not behaving. I'm trying to create both a flac and mp3 file from EAC. It will create one file, but not both. If I place the mp3 first in the ini, then the mp3 will be created, but no flac appears. Likewise if I place the flac first in the ini it works, but the mp3 is nowhere to be found. blink.gif

Additionally, tags don't seem to be passing to the flac file correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why did you set "Rename = true" for the first encoder? If you have ".mp3" set as file extension in the EAC compression settings and tell MAREO to rename the first endoded file (= the mp3) then it won't work.

@sh1leshk4
Tried your guide but it did not work. Lame is first encoder and mp3 is the extension specified in f2k (because f2k should create ape-tags for the mp3s). If i say Rename = FALSE for the first encoder (lame) then the temp mp3 is created in the f2k directory (because the "%d" parameter doesn't pass a path name like the "%s" parameter) and mareo just hangs up after creating the second file. If i set Rename = TRUE the mp3 is in the specified direcory, mareo quits just fine, but i receive a flushing file error...

Don't care for the wrong title: just for testing

If you don't know what i mean with the differences between the "%s" and "%d" parameter of f2k then take a closer look at the lines [source] and [desttmp] in the log!

If f2k did pass a path for both "%s" and "%d" i think everything would be fine: the temporary mp3 would be created in the destination directory and no need to rename it with MAREO after encoding...

I have .xxx set as the file extension in EAC, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I just did a test with rename set to false for the first encoder and it's still doing the same thing.

Messing up the first lines in the mareo.ini hase some interesting effects.

I can't find the line "CorrectionChar = _"

Or maybe the spaces in front of the parameter lines for flac should be deleted?

I believe so. I downloaded it a couple of hours ago from http://webearce.com.ar/. It says it's 4.0.6 - is that the most recent?

Beautiful. After adding in the CorrectionChar line both files are encoding! Thanks so much. Kwanbis, next time you update your site, could you possibly add the CorrectionChar line to the mareo.ini general settings section for future reference?

The spaces in front of the parameter lines for the flac don't seem to make a difference. However tag info still isn't getting passed to the flac file. Any suggestions? Oops. Nevermind. I wasn't looking in the right place.

Sorry for the late reply. =/

Try setting the parameter to Fon Soff; I think kwanbis' example (a few posts back) is also being set to Fon Soff.
I think Son tends to break things up; it's the same when I was using MAREO for dBA.

%s path is always the directory where the encoder you're going to use resides; in this case, the directory where you put MAREO.
%d actually does pass a path, not only the final name.
When you're choosing a directory when you run "Convert to...", it's the directory that will be passed in %d, not %s.

The problem is, MAREO doesn't care about what's in %d; it only cares about what's in %s.

@firemaplegirl
I don't think MAREO's website has the latest.
kwanbis posted MAREO 4.5 (not 4.0.5) a few posts back; you might want to check it out.
