Sorry if this has been discussed before, but i'm bad at searching sad.gif

I have the following problem: i've tagged some of my files with foobar v0.9 - ID3v2.4 - as i haven't had any problems on my portable player and according to the docs my car audio supports v2.4 tags too (didn't try it yet)

However problems emerged, when i tried to play the files on my other computer, using foobar v0.8.3 (Win98, so i can't install 0.9). On the majority of the tracks only the title field is displayed, on some files even more info (artist, album, lyrics) - but that's only one file per album
The problem is that foobar is prefering the (incomplete) v2 tags over the (complete) v1.

Any ideas how to solve this issue?
1. Should i just simply convert the tags to v2.3 before burning? (i don't really want to, because i am trying to stick with the latest version, as it should be better than the previous)
2. Maybe the problem is not in foobar v0.8 but in the lack of unicode support under Win98?
3. Is it possible to enable foobar v0.8 to read only from the ID3v1 tags?
4. other...

i really don't want to open another discussion about writing v2.3 tags in v0.9, as there are already several topics for this

thanks in advance

yeah, i was pretty sure that nobody will be interested in a v0.8.3 question... so i'll keep my topic alive a bit wink.gif

could someone please confirm, that there's no ID3v2.4 reading support in foo_id3v2.dll? I've found no thread dedicated to this plugin. Maybe i'll pm kode54 about this...

foo_id3v2.dll has v2.4 reading support!
It reads all frames from v2.3 (no matter what the main version of the tag is), only the few new ones from v2.4 are not read.

any explanation of the missing fields i described above (album, artist)?
is it a codepage issue?

3. Is it possible to enable foobar v0.8 to read only from the ID3v1 tags?
Removing foo_id3v2.dll seems to accomplish that goal (after also reloading file info)
