I want to know your opinion. Which audio player is the best? Winamp is dead, isn't it?
Is there any tests of players??

A general "the best" does not exist in the universe, at all.

Then you are asking about popularity, not what is the best "for you". You could as well start a poll in that case, would be just as useful. And i can already predict the outcome: foobar2000, because you're asking on the forums which are the home of fb2k.

Leo 69: Based on your link, seems to me Winamp is alive and kicking, though.

Hi Trilis,
for me MediaMonkey is the perfect player. It's fast, easy to use, has a nice interface, a lot of features, supports a lot of players (also ipods; with albumart!!) and the developer work together with the people in their forum. If some function isn't available you often find a script (like a add-in) in the forum.
You find it here: http://www.mediamonkey.com (Newer beta in their forum)

Winamp2 here.. It can play just about every audio format in existance. Great dsp plugins. Low on resources. Easy to use. Lots of skins. Eye candy (visualizations). Can write to a lot of different audio formats too. A bit of video support. etc. etc.

*high-fives* Yo! Fellow Monkey! laugh.gif Me too.

What's beautiful is that the scripts are VBscript based, and you can download a .chm file detailing all interfaces MM expose from the website. MM also provides hooks to events e.g. at start of song, at end of song, right before shutting down, etc. so you can easily write triggers.

OT: Big_Berny, I found a script that simulates ReplayGain Album-mode. You use it?

foobar2000, if you're willing to make it work.
With proper care, it'll serve you better than almost every other player out there.

Foobar2000 is tops for me. Amazing customization of features if you can afford the time and effort (HA's Foobar2000 forum is always there to help!).

XMMS.
