Full Version: Serious bug when scanning media library

I have heard good things about foobar, and wanted to give it a try. I like the user interface, and would like to ditch Winamp, but I'm experiencing serious bugs with the media library: After a scanning my library, foobar fails to import hundreds, possibly thousands, of music files. Some of these files are in folders beginning with an exclamation point, for example "! Mixed Sets", some are very long file names, but others are perfectly normal filenames that do not contain special characters and are not excessively long. Most of the missed files seem to be mp3s 30 to 90 minutes in length which are stored on an external Firewire drive. I am using a plain install, no special plug ins or settings, and nothing in specified in the "Restrict to" or "Exclude" fields in media library preferences. Winamp and foobar are set to scan the same two folders. Winamp lists 50+ days of music, while foobar lists only 21 days. I don't understand how a bug like this can remain in the software for as long as foobar has been in development. Am I the only one experiencing this symptom? I would encourage other users to scan their libraries using Winamp and check for discrepencies in the total length of the libraries.

If anyone has any ideas on what could be causing this, please let me know.

I'm having no problems here scanning an external usb HD, including folders/files beginning with '.'.
Do they get added to the database if you drag them onto a playlist?
roentgen
I too have no problems with that
What version of foobar do you use?
kuru
no bugs here, too, with foobar 0.9.1.
just let it scan my external usb-drive, about 6500 files in 438 folders, then started winamp (brrrr...) and did the same with 100% indentical results.
