Som drive cannot seek very vell inside audio tracks therefore it can result in degraded sound quality when ripping audio.

most drives todady score DAE quality at 10 and have accurate stream in the cdspeed2001 test programs

i wouldn't rip audio on a drive that score less
Xenion
hm where do I get this prog. ?

This is usually said speaking of the ability to read scratched CDs. Some CDs are so scratched that some drives can't read them anymore, while other may still succeed. In this case, the later is said to have a better DAE quality.

cool nero CD speed says that my drive (plextor 40ts) has a DAE quality of 0
wow it rips rips good for having 0 DAE quality

and I have same results with a real bad scratched CD (Beach Boys - Summer Dreams)
and with a totally new and unplayed Radiohead - The Bends CD

both DAE 0

Total Errors 1761686 (31.209%)
DAE Quality 0
Accurate Stream: No

Just asking, because that model shouldn't produce such errors. Maybe your drive is about to die? Dust on the lens? Motor slightly decalibrated?
sven_Bent
that dires are supposed to suppurt accurate stream

look like something is broken (either hardware or software)

You already did... DAE Quality is 0, forgot? I would replace the drive.
Pio2001
I would first test the extraction with EAC : new CD, test and copy, compare CRC.

I'm not sure about Nero CD Speed and DAE : how does it detect errors ? Reading C2 ? Then what about drives that don't support C2 ? Does it use a special CD that you need to burn first ? Then you can only expect quality 0 if you use another CD to test.
