Full Version: 0.9.1 - Replaygain scanning (per album)

I started switching to foobar 0.9 lately, especially due to the more powerful converter engine among other things. One thing in the Replaygain scanner caught my eye though.
It seems I can only scan according to Tags and Directories. Scanning by Directories will count every directory as a different album, that's clear. It is of no use to me as sometimes I have 2cd albums in one directory, and I want to give different album gains to both discs.
So the other option is to Scan by Tags. However, this method counts differences in both the Album AND Artist tag fields, and thus an album such as a compilation of different composers' music, will be granted different album gains per every track!

The old "Scan selections as multiple albums" button in Foobar 0.8.3 worked just like the "scan by tags" in 0.9.1 except that it only checked the Album tag and not the Artist tag too.

Is there a possibility to scan that way in 0.9.1 too? I could not find any Replaygain scanning related options under preferences.

edit: also, listing the album in the Replaygain Scan Results window would come very handy too - any way to add it?

No, select all albums you want to apply replaygain tags to and deselect the various artist albums (pressing ctrl). Start the process and then you can immediately select the VA albums seperately and start them with treat as single album or scan directory-wise.

Ya, add it to the source code and recompile... tongue.gif

Oh damn. Selecting each album one by one can be troublesome on the long run.
And the Replaygain jobs don't seem to pile up, they are running simultaneously.

I'm also annoyed by the current limitations.
I'd suggest you to keep a copy of 0.83 installed on your computer and to use it for some dedicated tasks (like massive RG scanning) that 0.9 can't handle with the same confort.
