Greetings. Newbie to this board, been lurking a while.
Looking for 6 analog/in 6 analog/out soundcard for transfer from
MC sources (for personal playback/archiving).
Need something that suits a low budget. Would like to have card
w/drivers that supports playback of MC and DVD-A discs
as my Audigy 2ZS supports, also.
Suggestions appreciated!
Thanks,
Gerald

Would this: Chaintech AV-710 PCI Sound Card 7.1 24-BIT Optical Out Retail Box fit the bill?

Some people around here recommended it in another thread, and apparently it's a great quality card and extremely cheap too. I remember when the original sound blaster, was $200

M-Audio Revolution 5.1 should be good for this.

And I thought the Chaintech card was only really good for the optical out.

I don't think you can use DVD-Audio on anything except Creative cards, though...

Most cards don't support DVD-A to my knowledge. That's a novelty feature, but I would look into Chaintech of M-Audio Revo 5.1. I have a Revo. It has 6 analog outs and nifty mixing controls. It supports ASIO 2.0 also (important for recording). Both card use the Via Envy24 chipset that we tote around here, except Chaintech is $40 bucks cheaper. Revo has S/PDIF passthrough too coax. I have one. I don't care very much about 3D gaming features, like EAX 3.0. The Sensaura algorithm works quite well though, really the only thing it's not designed for is gaming. Mostly movies and music. It doesn't have a MIDI out either, that's what the Audiophile 24/96 is for, but anyway. Either card.

Thanks, folks. I'll check them out!

Hmmm. Doesn't seem to be a 6 ch LINE IN card out there that I can find. 4/In + 1or2 MIC in are easy
to find. Well, back to the stereo in.

The E-MU 1820 and 1820m have this many inputs and outputs.

Yes, thank you. I had emailed Creative and they provided a link. Little more than I'm
willing to spend right now, however.
