This might seem strange to you, as it seems strange to me but, -- it seems all of a sudden foobar has stopped reading id3v1.1 tags and is now treating them like regular v1 tags - cutting of the titles and such.
Is there a preference that could have changed?

This isnt a direct answer to your question, but have you considered using ID3v2 tags? It's easy enough to add them, and if you need both then you can use ID3v1+ID3v2. As far as I know, all ID3v1 implementations end up cutting off long titles sooner or later. Another option is APE tage but personally I like to stick with the ID3.

v1.1 tags are limitless...
v2 tags are extremly unnecessary.
and it was working before!
"Since the ID3v1 tag had a fixed size and no space marked "Reserved for future use", there isn't really room for that much improvement, if you want to maintain compatibility with existing software."

You're joking, right? The only difference between ID3v1 and ID3v1.1 is that 1.1 allows you to store the tracknumber as well.

:/ let's say i'm complelty wrong.....okay.
but how come the tags are getting cut off in foobar now - when they used to be shown in full....
What version of foobar are you using? My first guess is that if you have 0.8.3 then the info was being cached in the database but the files have since been moved or changed in some other way causing a reload of the original information.

Which program (and which version) did you use before you used foobar2000 0.9.1?
There was a similar topic a while back:
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=45249Oh well, maybe not. vasya_pupkin's ID3v1 tags weren't being recognized.

Probably Lyrics3v2 tags, they are not supported anymore.

hahahah no.
not at all mate, it's id3v1.1 no lyrics....
Do you have a really short track (30 seconds or less) that has tags being read by 0.8.3 but are not being read by 0.9.2? If so, post it here for the experts to analyze. My money is also on some corrupt ID3v2 tag that 0.8.3 was lenient in reading.

sorry i had to "megaupload" it YSI was down
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3ARMVU0Athe song tag in 0.9+ came up "It's Better To Follow The Shep" but in 0.8.3 it came up "It's Better To Follow The Shepherd"
so let me know what you see....
That file has id3v1 + lyrics3 tags (open the file in an editor and search for "LYRICSBEGIN"). It looks like dano called it.

is there a plugin that supports this? in 0.9.x
QUOTE(ACardiganAndAFrown @ Jun 9 2006, 23:12)

is there a plugin that supports this? in 0.9.x
No. Foobar2000 will never support Lyrics3 again. Not even with plugin.

ID3v2.x tags are what the majority of the world have come to accept as the solution for long tags on MP3s. If you have your own reasons for sticking to ID3v1.x then so be it but dont expect much support. Lyrics tags are becoming less and less popular and over time I think you will find it's support disappearing from more than just foobar.. I'd strongly suggest you reconsider using ID3v2 tags if you need long titles for your songs.
While the developers of foobar (and many other programs) have no intention of supporting lyric tags, the sdk is available. If you feel so strongly about continuing to use them for your song titles you may want to consider developing a plugin yourself.
