Full Version: Errors by ripping CDs with EAC

Great Jay
Hmm, as I mentioned in another thread I just started to rip my whole cd collection. After about 50 cds with great results there were now two discs with some problems. If you don't mind I would like to describe the errors...maybe you have some comments on that wink.gif

1) Skid Row "Skid Row". One track out of eleven is not accurately ripped. All the others are. But EAC results are okay (no errors occured). I tried it with two different drives and in burst mode (normally I use secure mode, no c2, test&copy), but I always had this result. And it was a high confidence! Is there something else I could try? Or is it - even if there is a high confidence - possible that I have a different pressing? Even if it's only one track that is wrong?

2) Queensryche "Operation: Mindcrime". With both drives there was an error at track 11. The track was not totally read (only about two minutes from 4:24) and it was not encoded to flac-format. EAC said some samples were missing / wrong position. Than I tried it with burst mode... now EAC said errors in tracks 1 and 11, but track eleven was read and encoded complete and a first listening showed no errors. I just copied track eleven to the folder of my "secure mode"-rip, so that I have the whole album complete... are there any suggestions what else I can try?

thx

If the reported CRCs are the same using two different drives I'd say this is most likely the best result you can get. It could be a different pressing. Maybe there is an illeagal CD traders club out there that share and distribute CDs and they rip them with EAC but the source extraction had problems and thus the error is spreading and infecting the accuraterip db. Again, unlikely but I guess it's possible. smile.gif
