After having limited success with foo_dop I was to set up foobar 0.8 with foo_pod just until foo_dop develops a bit more.
Thought I could make the whole config geared around updating my ipod, but I can't find v0.8 avalible to download anywhere, also if/when I do, are old versions of plugins like columns UI info panel etc still around?

I dont think you are going to find one.
foo_browser is new for 0.9, but it was inspired on my work on playlist tree and its internal browser. Playlist 1.7.9 was the last release for 0.8 and is available here.
