I have googled for a week and can't find a plugin that gives more scientific visualisations in foobar 0.92, projectm doesn't fit my demand, However, the mean squared difference simple spectrum display in foobar 0.83 was very good, showing the amount of stereo in a file.

Now, are there more choice of visualization in foobar 0.92?? any one know?

I, too, have been on the lookout for some vis plugins for foobar however with the notable exception of ProjectM and the built-in spectrum analyser I really havnt found much at all. From other threads I have read, I got the impression that the author and the majority of the foobar community are not interested in vis plugins and see them little more than bloat and a waste of resources.

I generally run foobar minimized in the background while I perform other tasks, controlling it from the media keys on my keyboard so I can live without the vis plugins quite easily. However, sometimes I'm in the mood to sit back, smoke some salvia, and let my mind drift away into a vis while I listen to music. Also, when I recommend foobar to others one of the frequent complaints I hear is "where are the full screen vis plugins?".

Your motives appear a little more "scientific" but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. If you are able to discover some nice vis plugins for foobar or decide to develop your own from the SDK please post back and let the rest of us know.

To clear up, i am neither satistified with project m nor the little bulit-in spectrum analyzer(next to the play button, very simple), but i really love the visualization in foo 0.83, which offers 2 channel/mixdown/mean squared diff.

They are useful (at least i think) and should be conserved, if there are really no solution, i think i have to switch back to 0.83 after my coming HDD Format( crying.gif my Win XP is dying)

Hmm I also tried projectM and while I feel it's better than nothing I am also not completely satisfied with it. In fact I went back to winamp just for milkdrop however the audio quality in winamp is much worse than foobar. Strikingly so in fact, no matter which plugins (resample etc) you use. It just sounds flat and compressed (with lossless audio) Also sounds much quieter for some reason even with the limiter in place in foobar...

If only foobar had milkdrop support. It would be the perfect all round audio player.

unsure.gif Can you justify this assumption? especially about lossless files. Without any DSP, files should sound the same.

Well I'm assuming it's because Foobars resampler is much more sophisticated than this winamp plugin resampler. Just download it and listen to the same song for 20 seconds than switch over to foobar There is a noticable difference. I can't seem to get asio to work with winamp either.

My Main Main Main aim is to get the "mean squared difference"display back to monitor the stereo amount & freq
