I have a folder of many flac files, I have been trying to convert them to mp3 for a long time. I can not figure out for the life of me to do it right. When using the old version of Foobar I would use a command (that I can't get to work, and can't find anymore) that would convert the FLAC files to 256kbps with ID3v1 and ID3v2 (this is what I want).

Now I have settled for using the variable 245 (which isn't working well with pcdj). ALL the files were ripped using the same way and the genres were all updated using Tag&Rename. When converting, about 50% have Version 2 tags and the others don't... WTF???

Can you help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

Is there better software for transcoding from FLAC to Mp3?

IIRC foobar 0.9.0 doesn't use ID3v2 unless its actually required. If your tags fit in V1.1 it uses them, presumably since they're 10x more compatable and much faster to write.

I believe .9.2 defaults to always write both though. If yours isn't, it can be forced under the "Advanced" settings tag to do so.

Thank you! That solved the ID3v2 problem. Now, how can I make a custom preset to convert to 256kbps (w/ id3v2)?
