I've got a 5.1 WAV that I want to split into tracks. What would be the easiest way to do this? Some audio editors I've tried don't handle multichannel (Goldwave, Audacity). Would Adobe Audition be able to do this without going through the surround encoder?

Yes. smile.gif

Could you tell me how, or link to a tutorial?

Open the 6 channel wave file in Audition, and it will split it into the 6 individual tracks. Load each one separately into the editor and 'Save As', and you be able to save the tracks as individual mono wave files.

I meant splitting the album into its individual songs, not seperating the channels. Ending up with (about) twenty-seven three-minute 5.1 WAVs.

Ooops, sorry!! rolleyes.gif I misread that completely. wink.gif Where did the tracks come from, a DVD? If so, it would be simpler to rip the tracks individually.

The tracks came from two CDs meant to be played together (Olivia Tremor Control's Dusk at Cubist Castle and Explanation II: Instrumental Themes and Dream Sequences, if you're curious). I ripped both discs and combined the audio into one surround file in Audition.

wasn't there a command "save selected range as.."?
just select the range (song) for all channels at the same time and export it to multichannel wav, and do that for every song..

it works with stereo files (when you come across a large .wav rip that lost it's cue tongue.gif), no idea for multichannel I avoid that like the plague

I've not checked in any detail, but this might do it: http://www.allworldsoft.com/software/0-278...wave-editor.htm. It's shareware, but free for 31 days - enough to see if it works!! wink.gif
