Full Version: Question about Replaygain tags for ID3v2

Question: how does foobar implement replaygain tags in ID3v2? When I view the files it looks like it is using a TXXX frame. Is there also a RVA2 frame or not? (I can't find one.) Also, what is the correct way to do it (TXXX/RVA2/both)?

The reason I'm asking is I want to write a script to copy replaygain tags from flac files to MP3s with ID3v2 and I want to know what the right way to do it is (where "right" way means the way that will be readable by most players).

Thanks,

Lanier

I think that copying replaygain from one format to the other may not be the best option... when I transcode to flac and re-run the replaygain on the album... my replaygain values are different (not much mind you)...

Peak values can get quite a bit higher with lossy formats so if you want to use them for clipping prevention you should rescan the mp3s.
