Not sure if this belongs here. If not, please could a moderator move it accordingly. I have a minor issue with CoolEdit 2000 and was wondering if anyone knows of any CE2000 forums where I might ask about it. In the meantime, I'll describe the problem here in case anyone can shed some light:

If I run CoolEdit 2000 after having previously used the DVD drive (a Plextor PX712A), then it constantly pops up the message "There is no disk in the drive" (with Cancel/Abort/Continue options). This doesn't happen if I haven't used the DVD drive since rebooting. The only way to stop this message is to put a CD or DVD into the drive (or reboot).

I've searched through all configuration settings in CE2000 and there is nothing set to use D: (the drive letter of my DVD drive). I have also searched through the registry for all Syntrillium keys and nowhere is there anything set to use the D: drive. I think this message might be coming out of Windows rather than CE2000, but CE2000 is the only program I have that behaves in this manner. I'm running Win2K Pro, SP3.

Anyone heard of this before? (Other possibly relevant info: I have Syntrillium's Audio clean-up and Jeffrey Klein's Clickfix plugins installed. Everything is legally registered in my own name).

It seems that there's something wrong with either the ASPI or SPTI implementation used by Cool Edit 2000 (non-Pro, right?).
You should try the other one in CD ripping options.

Be warned: it's only a blind guess. I've never seen the problem myself.

Thanks, Andy. Had a look and they have an extensive CE2000 section, so I'm going to register and ask there.

OK, I had a senior moment. I forgot to check every instance of COOL.INI that was lying around, and found one that had an entry for "clipboard" set to a path in the D: drive. Removed that and all is now well. Sorry for bothering people.

"senior moment" ?

Edit: Oh! I get it... LOL laugh.gif
