Full Version: How to boost up volume in Winamp?

I just built a new compter but the volume is lower when I play my music files off of winamp. I am useing the same sound card(turtle beach) off of my old computer. The new computer has a intergrated real teck sound card in the motherboard board but I diasbled it. Another difference I am useing between the two computers is my new one I am useing Windows SP2 and the old one I was useing SP1. For some reason, though, my music files on my new system with winamp aren't as loud as my old system. I have checked everything to make sure....I made sure there was no DSP plug ins in Winamp active, I made sure that no Replay Gain was going on, and I made sure all the settings were the same as in my old system. It doesn't make since...the only thing I can guess it is ethier the intergrated sound card(even though it is disabled in bios), the motherboard(don't know why that would make a diff), or the SP2, or I am just looseing my hearing(hope not). I know foobar is good, but I am a loyal Winamp user so I'm not going to switch. Does anyone know of a plug in for Winamp that would boost the volume and keep the signal clean without distortion(I don't like equalizers)?

Udate your soundcard drivers.

Are you using Waveout? You may have the waveout volume turned down in Windows.

If you just can't find a fix (like me, my new laptop's realtek HD is quieter than I'm used too and nothing fixed it) you can try a compressor like this one, and there's a few others out there too.

You might just have the volume turned down in the volume control. Wave or master.

I have checked the Windows Master Volume and Wave volume. I am useing the DirectSound Output Plugin in winamp so it does not deal directly with Windows wave out. When I did use the Real Teck sound card, just to see what it was like, it was alot louder...I don't know why.
