I'm not sure if there is already a topic about this... i couldn't find one.

When I use foobar for streaming, it doesn't display the whole Song-Info. That happens, when the name contains any special characters.

example:

Song Name: "Michael Jackson - Earth Song"
%artist% - %title% returns: "Michael Jackson - Earth Song" (correct)

Song Name: "Rolling Stones - Don't Stop"
%artist% - %title% returns: "Rolling Stones - Don" (incomplete)

Song Name: "Blümchen - Verrücke Jungs"
%artist% - %title% returns: "Bl" (incomplete)

If there are any special characters like (') or (ö,ä,ü), it cuts the name and displays the name incomplete in my playlist, window-title, AMIP, ...
This just happens when I use foobar for streaming. Local media works fine.

(I'm using V.0.9.2)

Please make sure you run 0.9.2 final and not one of betas, a workaround for the ' character problem was added some time ago. I would say that this is a bug in server software (the protocol uses quotation marks to enclose values), but since no specifications have been officially released as far as I am aware of, all we can do is to emulate behaviors of other shoutcast-enabled apps.
If the ' character problem persists in 0.9.2 final, I need an URL to a stream that still triggers it.
As for non-ascii characters, I need a stream that uses them to figure out what character encoding they use (again, no documentation I could find mentions it).

thanks for your fast reply!

I'm running 0.9.2 final, not a beta version.
The reason why it can't be a server problem is that a friend of mine listens to the same radio (he uses winamp), and he hasn't got this problem. so it HAS to be a problem with foobar in my opinion. correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm talking about this stream.
oh yeah, it makes the whole thing more complicated when there are no documentations. it would be nice when this problem could get fixed though.

The fact that Winamp contains hack-fixes for odd behaviors of their own server software does not imply that their server software is bug-free. Again, this is just a speculation, because there is no official documentation for their "standard", which appears to be at least very badly designed.
