Full Version: FLAC length difference

Hi, I've got a question about FLAC. I recently downloaded some FLAC titles which where encoded with version 1.1.0. Since the newest version is 1.1.2 I recoded them with that using dBPowerAMP. When I compared the files (selected them all in Explorer and then the FLAC ID tag) I noticed that the length is about a total 2 minutes less with the new files compared to the old ones. Can anybody explain how this happened? Did something go wrong or did it simply delete the empty spaces in the end of each song?

I'm guessing this is a problem with dBPowerAMP dropping some silence at the beginning/end - although two minutes is a bit much smile.gif I guess you mean two seconds.

I don't have that software, you could look around for settings.

It was 2 minutes actually but I found the problem. I ran FLACtester over the old files and it found some errors crying.gif . When they where converted to the new files it fixed the errors, but also took some of the music lol... Maybe when the next version of FLAC comes out, they should put some more logging options in dBPowerAMP.

You might want to PM spoon about it, I guess he'll like to know.

Noted for next update (all codecs are rewritten soon for R12).
