hello, here is one suggestion:
is there a search plugin which will scan hard drive rather than database or playlist, for those like me who have 300++gigs of music ans wont spend 37 weeks to verify all the tags, and then using explorer tree panel.
Could be a easy seach engine like windows F3 but as a plugin, or a tag seach engine, but I think it'll be harder, longer, better...TECHNOLOGIC
thanks for helping

I think the best way would be to add all those files to a playlist (assuming you dont want them in the DB) and then searching that. A search that looked at all the files' tags without loading them first would be absurdly slow.

what about looking only at filenames ? sounds like old school but may be usefull when remembering only a title for example

I used to think I had too much music and that tags were useless/too much trouble...then I got a portable MP3 player and started fooling around with Foobar and found that yes it really is worth having them updated. Long file names...scare me.
I recommend one day when you have free time, grabbing a beer, putting a good album on, and just sitting down and fixing every broken tag. I still have so many to go and I only have about 20 gigs...I got to slacking

If you don't tag them, why not use any file-searching or cataloging tool then? Then you just drag-and-drop the files to foobar.

Actually, that gives me an idea. You can download plugins for google desktop and MS desktop search that catalog audio tags. Maybe somebody can make a foobar plugin that utilizes those catalogs that are already in place to populate the library or search for audio files. That way, if you already use a desktop search program, you will not need to repopulate your foobar library all the time. I know what a pain that can be since I'm one of those users with a 300+ gig library.
