Full Version: Combining freedb tagger with converter

I have a bunch of FLAC files on DVDR and I'm converting them to MP3 - using the converter to output the files in the format %artist%\%date% - %album%\[%tracknumber% - ]%title% to my mp3 folder.

However, a good half of the FLAC files are not tagged. And I can't run the freedb tagger on them as they are on read-only media. This was less of a problem in 0.83, foobar just wrote tags to the database and processed the files from there. But I can't seem to do that in 0.92 anymore.

So, is there a way to tag the files "virtually", or to tell the converter to use tag names from freedb or something like that?

No, the only thing you can do is convert the files first - perhaps to a temporary location, if you use an output filename based on tags - and use the freedb lookup on the output files.

Yeah, I'm doing that - but it takes ages as I have to process the files one by one.
