Full Version: Foobar slows PC to a crawl on reaching end of FLAC playlist

Everytime I load up any album of FLAC via an m3u list and let it play the whole way through (occasionally pausing to leave the room), when it reaches the end of the playlist the PC locks up and no applications, nor the mouse or keyboard respond. After about 30-40 seconds it all becomes responsive again. I keep forgetting to watch the task manager when this happens to see if the CPU or memory use skyrockets temporarily, but that will be my next step.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed this? It doesn't seem to matter what album I use.

If anyone wants to know more about my setup, just ask and ye shall receive! I don't use any UI columns or any of that stuff, all I've done to the interface is remove the visualisation and changed the color of the playlists and selection marker. I've also got Audioscrobbler, the APE dll, the freedb2 dll, asio dll. I think that's the only differences from a standard install. I use ASIO for output.

did you try to load the flacs directly? ... not through a m3u playlist ...

That does not make any difference. The effect can also occur with other formats besides FLAC. This bug will be fixed in 0.9.3.

Correction: The bug I was thinking about was in the Vorbis decoder and affected chained Oggs. Sorry for that.

Yep. Tested that tonight. Twice tonight is has not only locked up the PC, but Foobar has crashed altogether after a few clicks from me trying to right click > close.

It also happens whether or not foobar is minimised at the time it reaches the end of the list. This is most annoying.
