I'm using CDex 1.51 and recently downloaded a CD-DA Extractor trial just for kicks. It has some features I'd really like CDex to have, but let's face it; it's a free application. I was just wondering how do these two apps compare when it comes to Ripped Audio Quality. Does anyone knows?

try too EAC, free and best ( for me ) than cdex.
about Easy cd da Extractor, nice application, with c2 errors report AND repare, very fast extraction.
best ( for me ) than EAC for damaged cds.
best ( for me ) than plextool because more simply to use

It depends on if your drive does C2 error correction, if it doesn't don't bother with applications like EAC. cdparanoia is designed to work on low-end drives prone to misalignment, etc. The choice varies from person to person. It's not a "free application" either it's open-source per GPL terms.
CDex, Easy CD-DA Extractor and EAC are good ripping apps. Try them and if you like them...use them.
Easy CD-DA Extractor's license is $29.95 or thereabouts for lifetime upgrades...I still use it once in a while.
Another option you could try is EAC with the REACT script...either works fine.
Though all three use freedb...I wonder...
EDIT: Also, there is a newer version of CDex out, CDex 1.70 beta.

Every drive performs C2 error correction, it's part of the red book requirements.
If you mean C2 pointers, EAC does not use them to locate errors.

What does EAC use them for?

Oh Boy! I knew I was getting the "try EAC replies". I'm no stranger to EAC. I installed it time ago but unistalled it when it blew my laptop DVD drive. I think I have mentioned it a couple of times on this forum.
I'm looking forward to install CDex 1.70, but I'm gonna wait until the final version (or enough people say is OK to use). About CDParanoia...It's the first time I hear of it. How does it compare to CDex?
PS As always, thanks for the replies.

Its a disc mode that CDex can use. Under the options under disc drive or something akin to that.
http://www.users.on.net/~alexanderino/cdex/^ Check out the guide to see how to set it up. Its under CD Drive / CD Drive Settings
