Full Version: How do I retain foreign characters with EAC?
Hydrogenaudio Forums > CD-R and Audio Hardware > CD Hardware/Software

I listen mostly to Chinese and Japanese music. As a result, all my of song titles/artists are in foreign characters. When I rip using iTunes, this information is retained and I can see it on my iPod. However, when using EAC with LAME, they are changed into blank spaces. Am I doing something wrong or is this just a limitation of the program. Thanks a lot.

Edit: I am a moron sad.gif Please move this to the CD Hardware/Software forum if possible.

You need to have a proper font for these characters. Any and all characters are made up of the possible bit arrangments (256 or 512 posible, depending). If this iTunes thing is on your computer, it appears that you have the font but the other software just doesn't use it.

iTunes will write propper Unicode ID Tags, not using the extended acsii range (which varies from computer to computer).

You can also set your system locale to Chinese/Japanese (assuming Windows 2000 at least) or try Microsoft AppLocale (Windows XP)
