EAC uses freedb artist title info to encode WAV filenames with this tag data. Is there any way to recover the tag info and transcode an entire WAV music library to FLAC?

Although EAC may use freedb information to create file names, wave files created by EAC do not contain tag information. EAC stores CD information in a separate file which is not tied back to individual track names but rather to an ID generated from the disc itself.

You'll be best served by just converting the waves to flac and using a tag editor like TagScanner which can query the freedb database. Hopefully you've included track numbers in the filename because the track order is important when conducting such a query. You can also create tags from the filenames and paths using such a program.

Another possibility is to mount an image comprised of the separate wave files referenced via a CUE sheet to a virtual drive using a program like Alcohol 120% or Daemon tools. From there you can rip tracks from the virtual drive to flac format using a program which is configured to create tags.

If all files follow the same name scheme, use foobar2000 and the masstagger with "guess values from filename"

Or let foobar get the freedb info on the ripped albums, its possible, too smile.gif
