Full Version: Nero is unable to create audio CD from MP3

Hi. I'm having this trouble with Nero. Probably it's my fault, bacause I played with some Windows' filters.
What is happening is that some week ago my computer stopped playing MP3.
I manually re-registered this filter:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\l3codecx.ax
and the computer started being able to play MP3 files.
But, and I don't know if this is related to this issue, when I listen, with my CD player, audio CD created from MP3 files with Nero, sometimes I can hear some little 'crack' in the sound.
This were repeated, about in the seme point, when I made a new CD. Please note: the probem is not of MP3 files, because by playing them I don't hear it no more.
More, once I decompressed to WAV the MP3 files and I made a new CD. It appears correct.
So I'm thinking this could be a MP3 decoding problem. So, what I'm thinking is that I made some error playing with Windows filters.

Could this be my problem?
If it is, how can I solve it?
Thanks.
Gambit
I think this was fixed in the latest Nero version. Try updating, that is if you don't have the latest version already.

But I have v7.0. Is this a known problem of Nero 7?I have seen that now we are at v7.2.3.2b.
Gambit
Do you have the latest one?

But after looking at the Nero changelog it seems that they didn't fix it. They fixed mp3 encoding, not decoding, I got that confused.

Anyway, try some other app. That'd be your best bet.

Nero doesn't use the Windows filters, so that is unrelated. The mp3 decoding bug is a known issue.

No, last version is v7.2.3.2b (I just checked) and I have v7.0.1.2.
By un-compressing to WAV the MP3 files, I manage to correctly make audio CDs.
But, is this a simply Nero bug? I was afraid this was my PC's.
Thaks for your infos.

It's a Nero bug, don't worry. Nero has lots of them. wink.gif

This is actually a 'known' bug with Nero 7. It has never actually been addressed by Ahead/Nero as far as I know.

The suggested solution is to replace the mp3pro.dll with the one from Nero v6.

If you need me to post the dll on this thread I can do that for you.

As to why this bug has not been resolved after what must be close to a year I do not know.

Edit: I would recommend that if you do not need the new features from v7 that you use v6 instead if at all possible, as it is far less buggy and require less memory and hard disk space. Just my opinion however.
