Today i heard the first time in my life "When the Tigers Broke Free" on "The Final Cut" remaster and just bought it.
There are rare moments when a remaster brings new moments.
I enjoy it.

I'd consider it the worst Floyd album if I didn't hate Ummagumma more :B

Same here; in my opinion, it crossed that "music vs. lyrics" balance that David Gilmour always talked about, and not in a good way. Might as well just cross out the “Pink Floyd” name on the front and call it a Waters solo album. I can't remember the last time I even played it! (My older copy doesn’t have WTTBF on it, unlike the first poster).

Don't be talking smack about Ummagumma - although it's not all that great as far as Floyd albums go, there's far worse in their catalogue in terms of individual songs. Seamus or Dogs of War, anyone?

The Final Cut is a fantastic album!

...it really should be considered a Waters solo project, though.

The Final Cut is a great album, I just don't picture it the way I do the other Floyd albums.

I would have to agree that it is a good album, as long as you view it as a Waters album not a Floyd album.

Are you speaking for everyone or just yourself?

My favourite PF albums are: The Wall, Animals, and The Final Cut. I also like most of the stuff from Syd Barrett times. On the other albums there are only single songs I like, and I don't like the two most recent, post-Waters albums at all (except for few motifs).
As for The Final Cut, my favourite song is Not Now John - it's so funny that I can laugh my arse off everytime I hear it. Another great songs would be: One Of The Few, The Hero's Return, and The Final Cut. Then there are decent but not brilliant songs, and some crappy ones, but for me the good album is when at least half of the songs are great or decent, and it is the case with The Final Cut - it's a good album to me. Some of the lyrics are indeed tiring to say the least, but since english is not my native language, I can always ignore the translator in my head and treat those vocals just as part of music.

I just love "Bike". biggrin.gif

When The Tigers Broke Free was released on the Echoes compilation and it can be heard in The Wall movie. So it's not a real new moment.

I've never heard The Final Cut, somehow i have prepostitions against that album, my all-time favourites from PF are Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Division Bell (because that was their 1st album i heard wink.gif)

If you like The Final Cut, then be sure to check out Amused to Death. I reckon those two albums have a very similar style. I happen to think that Amused to Death is a masterpiece, and The Final Cut is pretty damn impressive, too. I find Hitchhiking and KAOS somewhat lacking. And I'm with you re. the post-Waters Floyd albums: they just don't have that spark of originality.

I'm not generally a lyrics person (I like a lot of instrumental music), but in the case of Roger Waters the lyrics seem like 90% of the experience to me - probably 99% for others.

I meant about The Final Cut (as an album) lyrics - too many of them are too much around war and UK politics, something that doesn't have much to do with me. Otherwise I agree that Waters is a great lyrics-forger, and many of them hit me right where they should (making me full of empathy). I also like his voice and expression/acting he does with it, but after all I wouldn't say that it's 90% of the experience, it's rather like 50% for me - music is as important ingredient of the experience, and I too am a kind of person who would rather listen to instrumental music than read poems.

Pink Floyd has so much music, every album is different. Thats why everyone likes different albums by them. I like the song Seamus tongue.gif

That rjamorim fellow, if I remember correctly, likes Wish You Were Here alot. I cant say I like it that much, I prefer The Wall or Animals or DSOTM. Also a reviewer on some site really hates DSOTM, I think hes crazy... And some AMG review says Obscured by clouds is a really bad album, I like it.

Everyone has different opinions on pink floyd music tongue.gif
