I'm making backups of my CD collection in MP3 format using EAC. But when I rip some of the CDs the drive slows down to a near stop and says "Read Error" or "Sync Error" and it takes hours for the CD to finish ripping. Sometimes it takes all night and the drive stops to cool down multiple times. Is this happening because the CD's are scratched, or might there be something wrong with the drive itself?

With scratched discs that happens quite often. There is nothing wrong with the drive itself. Use burst mode with test&copy if you want to do it faster.
If you have a plextor you might also use PlexTools instead.

Hi I'm VERY new at this but I was also having this same problem. I finally realized that it was happening at the very beginning of some tracks. (not the middle) And I solved it by checking 'spin up drive before extraction' in the drive options.

Just thought I'd mention it just in case that was the problem.

Good Luck! smile.gif
